    Firmware update

Does anyone know how to update it OTA? I have Znet and no way to plug something into it.
    Updater shows
"Click the button to upload a .hex or .hec firmware file provided by the manufacturer, to be uploaded to the device."
BUT, Aeotec website DL for update is a folder of assorted files (none of which end in hex or hec.

(it would be good to get past V1.6 as updates have better reporting for light, humidity and temperature)

I happen to have the Aeotec z-stick. That's the only way to update via OTA. If you have access to a z-stick follow these instructions, they worked for me.

Well that sucks! Why would there be an option in homeseer to update via a method that doesn't work!

It does work for Homeseer devices and it's for any device that the manufacturer gave the firmware info to Homeseer to use for updating purposes.

In theory it's wonderful, in practice I don't think many other companies actually cooperated. So if you can't use it, make believe the button isn't there except for Homeseer devices.

I wasn't able to update, BUT the humidity and temperature do have parameters to adjust and I now find they are reporting accurately with my adjusted settings on my v1.6

              Ok, slow question... if one has a USB powered device how should one set their device to have instantaneous updates;

Motion Sensor = Enable or Disabled?
              Motion timeout = X sec
Automatic report rate for group 1 = X sec
              Wake-up interval = 4 minutes (min)

What is the map of these setting in reference to the configuration parameters and which ones does one need to change and to what values.. trying to get some type of standardization so that it work similar to my HSM200 motion sensor if possible. thanxs in advance Mike

Do not set the motion sensor. Rather, set parameter 4 to the level of sensitivity, 0-5 (5 being highest sensitivity) 1 byte.

This will display motion sensor disabled, but I assure it is not disabled.

I have motion timeout set to 60 seconds. You choose what you prefer.

I leave all groups at 3600 seconds although at one time I had group one as low as 300 seconds. It all depends on what your needs are.

I have wake up interval at one hour. For me the sensor is informational, not critical.

As with all these notifications, if you see that your log is just absorbing info that you don't need then lower the reporting rate.

Parameter 5 sets the type of command sent when motion is triggered.

Steve, silly question where does one view the configuration Parameters settings "that are not included in the settings above" I only see the change parameters settings but not what the device settings other than what is displayed in the "Settings" tab. Mike

Specifically parameter 4 and 5 should help and others may be appropriate.

Fernando, thanxs for the specific parameter tables. My question was a little more basic. When I was using another platform (VERA) I was able to see all of the setting parameters and their associated settings, How does one see them within HomeSeer e.g. parameter 4 or 5? Mike

You don't. I've never used anything other than HS3 so I have no idea that sometimes seeing the trees in the forest is easier in another forest.

I came from Active Home Pro to HS3. I'm not sure if I'm jealous that I didn't know other programs could display all the parameters or happy that I didn't know, and have to look at all those details in addition to all the details I already need to look at. And I'm a detail oriented person, imagine.

Perhaps, as part of the device discovery, there should be a link to the z-wave alliance pages. Or, I'm sure that someone at HS3 has already written but not deployed parameter level discovery and display.

                        Soooo many possibilities.

So if I understand you correctly it's a "blind man describing an elephant"? meaning you can only set the "not included in the settings above." e.g parameter 4 or 5 (or what ever) and then one hopes that it was set by looking for dynamic changes within the device or not? Thanxs Steve, your method works which is slightly better, it would have been nice to see all of the parameter as there is fair number of them with this device. Mike
