Programming an Insteon 8 button mini remote.

I have an 8 button insteon mini remote (RemoteLinc V2) which I want to use to control a fanlinc. Here is how I would like it to work:

press a button will send the OFF command for the light
press and hold the a button will dim down the light

press b button will send ON command for light
press and hold b button will dim UP the light.

Press c button will turn fan off
press d button will turn fan on low
press e button will turn fan on medium
press f button will turn fan on high.

by default the mini remote is set to toggle mode. I was able to find the process to switch it to non-toggle mode.

and right now the fan buttons are working correctly, but I the light buttons aren't working as expected...

right now, pressing the a button turns the light off (good).
pressing and holding the a button does nothing (bad).

pressing the b button turns on the light (good), but the press and hold of button b seems to still be in toggle mode. If the light is on and I press and hold button b, it will dim the light down. if i release and then press and hold button b again , it will dim the light up. another press and hold dims the light back down and so on.

is there any way to get it to work as desired?

Should i just reset to factory defaults and try again now that the remote is in non-toggle mode?
Working...
