    Sonos Error on random speakers

I noticed recently that my SONOs speakers are exhibiting a fair number of Sonos Errors associated with specific speakers, is anyone else getting these type of messages and more importantly missing TTS announcements. I've done a number of HS3 Restarts but still get these types of error messages any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Mike

Those errors are probably the result of your Sonos network topology or firewall issues. First, try disabling your HS computer's firewall and see if that clears it. If not please state exactly
    • How many Sonos speakers or clients you have
    • Are you using a separate boost
    • How many are connected to wired Ethernet
I was having the same problems using one Sonos client hardwired to my network. I finally eliminated most of the errors by going to a completely WiFi (non boost in Sonos parlance) setup. With any or many hardwired clients, I had the same errors affecting one or more clients during an announcement. Now with every client on WiFi, the errors are astonishingly rare.

      • How many Sonos speakers or clients you have currently have eight; 2 (S3), 3 (S1), and 3 (S12)
      • Are you using a separate boost No
      • How many are connected to wired Ethernet other than the controller all are wireless

@Randy, thanxs for comeback. I answered your questions in bold/red. I just did a POR (Power On Reset) of my Wireless router in the attempts of clearing the errors. I too only occasionally would have sporadic messages but with the recent Beta activity they seemed to be come more constant. I will keep an I on my log to see if I have a reduction of Sonos Error messages. I might try turning off my firewall, although I never had any issues prior nor have I done any recent changes that I could put my finger on. Mike

What kind of players is this and what version of the PI are you running?
Is this player an S1 perhaps linked to a soundbar?
Could you post a screenshot of your player table and your announcement group table?

Is this player an S1 perhaps linked to a soundbar? No they are individual single speakers they look like the S12, I had assumed that the S12 was a newer version?

Dirk, I've responded to your enquires in bold/red. I did reset my Wifi router which in turned seemed to take care of the majority of my SONOS errors with exception of my Kitchen which is a S3 speaker, what's interesting is that I can control and play music using the SONOs App but I seem to be getting error messages related to the SONOs PI. I also did a power-on reset of the speaker in question in the hopes of possibly resetting it but that didn't resolve the issue with the Kitchen speaker. Mike

Dirk, I had again had a large number of Kitchen SONOs error messages so I thought I would delete the Kitchen device within SONOs Player table but the PI seemed to hang and when I looked at my PI manage screen I had the following SONOs failure that has now hung my HS3 whilst trying to disable the PI.... any thoughts, Mike

Did you hit the delete all player button or just Kitchen? The prior causes the PI to restart which could explain why HS lost communication with the PI. The latter shouldn't.

              Just restart HS

@Dirk, I hit just the Kitchen delete. As my manage PI screen was hung, I then performed a HS restart. When I went back to SONOS it appeared like all of the player devices were deleted and re-found. So far I have not seen any SONO error message (knock on wood). I guess my question to you, when deleting players and allowing the app to rediscover the SONO devices are we rewriting a new config file that over time can become corrupt/flawed? Do we have to delete players over time to refresh them? Mike

This sounds like the delete all option got somehow clicked

Delete all players wipes out the part in the .ini file that is associated with the players and removes all HS devices to start all over. It does however maintain your linkgroup table but players will have different HS device references so events you created are probably dead.
Unless somehow you had issues with the HS PC, say power outages, HW issues etc. the config is very static and hence doesn't corrupt easily (not to say at all). Typically when it becomes corrupt is due to user error, where HS DB was restored and the Sonos.ini wasn't (or ported between different PC). The biggest source is when people delete Sonos devices directly from the HS devices management page, that is the #1 source of mis-allignment of information between the Sonos PI and the HS DB.

                  Absolutely NOT!

The delete options on the Sonos config page are there to remove players that might not be on your network anymore (else they will be re-added) or if you ran into issues such as PC corruption or HS crashes and you suspect an issue (typically you have "object not found" errors at start-up).
In your case, it didn't look like a corruption but there were some error details that caused me pause and made me doubt you had a network issue. Having that said, some of the other errors however had network issues written all over them ....
So hopefully corruption was the source and you are good now.

@Dirk, thank-you for taking the time to explain, so far after the deleting the device players I'm running normal and hope that I've made the "bad anomaly" go away . Mike

I was getting a lot of these exact errors and they decreased significantly when I changed out the S1 players with newer version of S12 players.

I do still get the occasional error and it seems to always be the same player. Only way I can get it to go away is to reboot the homeseer server.

I am having the exact same issues lately, and they seem to be getting worse.

ERROR in GetSoftwareVersion for zoneplayer = Bathroom with UPNP Error = Read only tag / Transport is locked / Access denied. Error = MyUPnPService.InvokeAction for ServiceID = http://192.168.1.158:1400/xml/DeviceProperties1.xml while sending Action = GetZoneInfo for URI = http://192.168.1.158:1400/DeviceProperties/Control and Request = UPNP Error = with error = Error getting response stream (ReadDone2): ReceiveFailure

Usually the only possible way to regain control of Sonos from Homeseer is to reboot HS completely. The Sonos PI will not stop correctly, and locks up the PI Management page.

I can confirm this. When I try to disable sonos plugin homeseer hangs and I have to reboot.

This error ONLY can show up if you had restarted the PI.
Please take logs or do you have the log of the shutdown?
