Having trouble getting HSInsteon Plug-in to work

    Mark,

Thanks for your response. Sorry I didn't start a thread; but here I go. Being new to Home Automation and HS I am approaching my setup slowly. I have a new system (HomeTroller S5 Pro) and am trying to get the Insteon Plug-in to talk to the 2413U (Dual-Band) USB Interface.

Before purchasing your Plug-in I had installed the HSInsteon Plug-in (after downloading and installing the driver for the 2413U), restarted HS, configured a few devices which worked fine.

Realizing that the HSInsteon Plug-in would not communicate with some of my devices, I purchased your Plug-in. After installing it I went to the configuration page and configured the Interface Port to the same port the HSInsteon Plug-in was using, and saved the configuration. I disabled the HSInsteon and enabled the Insteon plug-in, restarted HS, but still can't select the COM Port on the Manage Plug-ins page (displays - N/A). Tried uninstalling the 2413U driver, and re-installing it, but that didn't help. On the Manage Plug-ins page the Insteon Plug-in is displaying an "OK" in the Status column. License column displays my correct License ID, and the Version is displaying 3.0.4.4.

I just don't know what to try next. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Ken

Ken, there is no option to enter the com port on the Manage Plugin page, N/A is the correct value.

can you get to the plugin config page? click the Insteon plugin name from the manage plugin page.

you should get to the following page where you can enter the correct com port?

there is no dropdown, you must enter COM1, COM2, etc. I would suggest uppercase.

Getting the Insteon Plug-in to work

      Mark,

      Thanks again for your response.

Your Plug-in is working fine. Because I had installed the HSInsteon Plug-in first I was using it's settings on the Settings page as the normal. I had assumed that when I installed yours I should be seeing a pull-down menu in the COM Port column. It was a learning process for me.

Thank you for your time on this matter. Now I can move on to configuring my devices.

      Thanks again,
      Ken

          Problem configuring plug-in

I too am having problems configuring the Insteon plug-in. I am using the hub and I can use the IP and port (25105) to connect to the with a browser see (image). I saw the threads about password so I removed the user name and password (was getting http 401 before) but still can't get it to work.

I was using the plug-in successfully with the USB (2413U) on Com3 with HS2, so I disable the plub-in in HS2 after installing HS3 and tried to get it to work with the 2413U but it will not connect to that either. So I bought the 2242-22 thinking that configuring would be simpler, "Surprise".

I downloaded the HouseLink for Hub app and that connected just fine. Could it be because the plug-in is in trial?

Just enter the ip addr and the port like the following: 192.168.1.100:25105

Let me know if the documentation isn't clear:
            http://board.homeseer.com/showpost.p...49&postcount=3

as for the username/pswd, only enter this if you assigned one directly to the hub via its own web interface. Otherwise leave blank

              Problem configuring plug-in

adding http was just one of the many options I tried, however, using the IP and the port I was getting: (I replaced the last 4 numbers with Xs in the IP)

are you able to control devices from the hub web interface or phone app directly?

It appears you have the plugin configured correctly but the hub not responding as expected

if all else fails, do a factory reset on the hub and try again. remember a reset may add a username/pswd back in depending the fw ver you have in the hub.

                  Problem configuring plug-in

I can connect to the hub using the browser and I downloaded the HouseLinc software and that is working correctly. Added several devices and can control them from HouseLinc. The Phone app appears is working correctly as well (have not tried to control any device).

I just bought the hub 3 days ago, do you support the latest revision? This is very strange, The USB interface was failing as well for HS3 but worked for HS2. I am going to test the hub with HS2.

I cannot think of what could be different in my environment that would cause the Plug-in to fail with what appears to be syntax errors. I was hoping I would not have to use the hub as a stand alone device but sadly these results are pointing in that direction .

your hub is supported in hs2 and hs3.

what version of hs2, hs3, and the plugins are you using? make sure to try the latest

please post the config\insteon error report.log if one is generated or enabled detailed logging on the plugin config page and post the hs log of the startup.

most of the time you need to configure the plugin config page and then restart hs to get everything working

Trying to get the plug-in to work

                      Hi Mark

I have HS2 v 2.5.0.49 and the current version of HS3 (3.0.0.96). I did a factory reset on the hub so there should be no password. /network.htm or /config.htm /sun.htm?01=01=FN but the time is off because the of the zone setting and I can't seem to change it. Please see attached log. I am thinking that the hub may be defective but I was able to configure a camera using the IPhone app

                        doesn't the newest/latest fw reset the username/pswd to admin/{your insteon id}?

can you access the hub from /network.htm? does it require a login? try the above.

what about trying /buffstatus.xml? this should produce something like the following:

                        HTML Code:
                        <?xml version="1.0"?>

However, you may be on to something, I may not have the latest firmware because when I do a reset I can get to /network.htm with no password and as you said it should be the admin and hub ID.

                          Let me research that.

Trying to get the plug-in to work

                            Mark,

Do you know of a more recent version of the firmware than what I have below?

                            Firmware:4.8A Build Feb 08 2013

The 0 size buffer would explain the buffer over runs.
