    Importing XBox 360 Codes

    Ultra J:

I downloaded a set of codes from Global Cache's Control Tower the other night for the XBox 360. I imported those codes just like I have others from GC, but these did not control the XBox. I then noticed the codes appear to be "compounded" -- i.e., one code immediately followed by another - I've included some samples below:

    Code:
    function, code1, hexcode1, code2, hexcode2

It looks like only the first of the two codes gets imported. Am I doing something wrong in the import, or is there some way to manually edit the imported values?

    Hello BigBadBuzz,

Can you post the import file here using a .txt extension so I can review it?

Sure - thanks! There are many devices/codes because I connect to an IR blaster.

Bumping the thread just in case you didn't see that I uploaded my IR Import file.

The input file contains 2 different formats. The format should be:

          [Button Name], sendir,1:1,1,[remaining-codes-removed]

I recall trying to get my Xbox 360 working several years. I recall it was quite a challenge. You may want to contact Global Cache to see if it's possible.

            U. J.:

Thanks for the reminder about the import format - I had gotten lazy with using the IR codes directly as provided by Global Cache - stripping out the hex codes from the import file cut down the size quite a bit. Since all my import codes other than the XBox ones have worked for quite a while, I assume your code ignores the hex codes that come after the "Global Cache format" string.
After I deleted the hex codes, I found that the GCIR3 plugin did import the 2nd sendir string in each XBox command, but things still didn't work. After a little experimenting, I found that if I split the two sendir's as provided by GC into two separate commands and send them consecutively, that does work! As an example, the POWER ON was split into a POWER ON_1 and a POWER ON_2:

            Code:
            [XBOX_POWER ON_1] sendir,1:1,1,36000,1,1,96,32,16,16,16,16,16,32,16,32,48,32,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,32,16,16,16,16,16,16,32,32,16,16,16,16,32,32,32,16,16,16,16,16,16,32,32,32,32,32,32,16,2476
            [XBOX_POWER ON_2] sendir,1:1,1,36000,1,1,96,32,16,16,16,16,16,32,16,32,48,32,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,32,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,16,32,32,32,16,16,16,16,16,16,32,32,32,32,32,32,16,2476
My "power on the XBox" event calls those two commands consecutively:

So now the Amazon Echo can be used to turn the XBox on/off via voice commands - pretty nice. Finally, I found that the IR receiver on the XBox 360 definitely needed a stick-on Xantech IR emitter, even thought the blaster in my living room is pretty powerful and reaches most everything else easily; there appears to be a limited vertical range to the XBox 360 IR receiver.
So, there may be "cleaner" ways to make the XBox controllable, but it wasn't too painful to do what I did. I hope this helps other folks trying to control an XBox 360.

            BBB

I have no explanation on why it needed to be broken into 2, but thank you for sharing. Hopefully it helps others trying to automate their XBox360.
