Get yourself a spare RPI 3 and install raspbian then use Peter Scargill's script from here : https://tech.scargill.net/a-christmas-script/ which will reduce your pain of installing software. It will give you Node-Red, MQTT and more in one go!

After installation log into Node-Red and install this node :
            https://flows.nodered.org/node/node-red-contrib-lgtv plus the mqtt nodes
Because you have already got the mqtt HS3 plugin you can do an infinite number of tasks with the three interconnected systems ===> HS3, Node-Red and MQTT. Dream it, it's all there! Your only pain will be to thank the guys who created that software.

            Now go on and play!

Im about to setup MQTT using Node Red
Do you know if Mosquitto is better to use than Example the built in Mosca MQTT?

Illustrated clearly by the Master Peter Scargill, you can you use any of them and the effects will be the same! That is to say, it doesn't hurt to install the mosquitto server itself. But if you want to cut down on resources that's one way of doing it. It's all about Nodes IN and Nodes OUT.

There is also an Android version : https://forums.homeseer.com/newreply...eply&p=1359318

The whole thing about MQTT is awesome!

EDIT: If you happen to consider Android version, then look at my post here : https://forums.homeseer.com/showpost...70&postcount=2 It's connected via RJ45 thus always on and the Android software if pre-rooted for power users!

Great , i will maby start with the node-red and mosca. (Will node-red in this case be the server?)

Then i can also maybe install the mosquitto on the same pi.
I guess i need to get my new Pi3 B+ going
                  Thanks for reply. Cheers.

With that set up you don't need another instance of MQTT running on the same PI.
Node-RED contains all what you need.

Here starting to utilize Node Red. I am impressed with it. I installed MQTT before installing Node Red. I have seen though now there is a NPM MQTT broker that you can install with Node Red.

What is nice too is that there is a live debug running if enabled to check you stuff out in vivo.

Relating to a using it with Homeseer there is now a plugin for MQTT called mcsMQTT over here ==>

I started yesterday, with the new raspberry pi 3 B+, but ran into issue, cause the noobs card that followed the pi 3 b+ , wouldnt boot.
Found out that it needed the absolute newest rasbian, to be able to run, so i had to delete the noobs card, and install it again.
Then next up was to install MQTT on my other Raspberry pi3 B with HS3Pi licence, and found out that i can only have 5 plugins.
I have another HS3 Pro licence i can use, but then i would need to install Raspbian stretch and mono (I guess), for installing the HS3 there.

Now im in middle 2 steps.
Use the New Pi3 B+ with linux and backup the currrent HS3Pi to a linux version running on B+ and HS3 Pro
And then run MQTT and Node-Red on the old Pi3 B
So, since i first have to go for a linux version it would maby be better to run Homeseer on the newest Pi3

It seems it shouldnt be that easy to start with MQTT, and i think the limit of 5 plugins is a bit low. as i only have absolute necessary plugins installed.

Only catch, can i use Geofency Mobile App with MQTT, and in that way i could uninstall the PHlocation plugin, to get MQTT plugin instead?

When you finish swapping your HomeSeer go here : https://tech.scargill.net/the-script-step-by-step/ but be slow! Read through the blog. I know you are excited about whole project but once you find out what more you can do with HomeSeer and those other systems, you will be like a child in a candy shop. Like I mentioned else before, my HomeSeer is a BEAST! ====> Systems INC ====> HomeSeer , Jeedom, Node-RED, MQTT and of course Evok-Unipi PLC.

                                Hi,

Found this thread while looking for ways to display message on my LG TV with WebOS. It's a B6 OLED about a year old.

Do I need to have a RPi to do this, or other Linux type machine? I don't have either and would love a way to be able to display a message on the TV.

                                Thanks!
