I have 3 RCS TR16 addressed 1,2,3 It said it connected (at least I think so) , but I can not set the temps, or read the temps back. I have included part of the log. I don't know why it is only addressing r1, r2, is that read 1 read 2 ? What is the SC

    Thanks
    Terry

It said it was connected, but not initialized

This plug-in supports only one thermostat as far as I know. I tried it briefly, but went back to using HS2 to control the T-stats (in conjunction with HS3) until I had a chance to replace the RCS devices with something that had a supported HS3 plug-in.

See this thread for more background. Post 103 is where the light came on for me.

The program lets you select up to 15

The one thing that I am going to try, I had 4 thermostats, but one is no longer used. which was number 2. maybe it is getting confused. it looks like it is trying to ask for status of 2. which there isn't one. I ran a terminal emulator, and the stats are working fine, and so is the serial port. So Here I will try to rename unit 4 as 2 and see what it does

So switching the address to 1,2,3 did nothing for me.

So how do you get them to fix this bug?

All the thermostats talking to terminal emulator OK

The thermostats are fine, and so is the communication link. The plugin just doesn't seem to work, Unless there is some additional settings I can't find. Just from looking at the printout, I guess I need to change zone 2 to heat. Summer is over.

Did you check the thread I linked in my previous post? I do not think there are any plans to modify this plug-in, but maybe someone else will chime in.

Sorry I didn't see your link.

Well that is not too helpful. I am still working on eliminating my stagate stuff. But with 4 thermostats and and the RS485 hub, it is a lot of money to eat to change thermostats. What language is the plugins written in. Do they let anyone else hack them. It is pretty easy to address the thermostats and get the info back. /at least in a terminal emulator.

Based on post #34, it appears that the source has been released. See this post for more info.

It may be more productive to try contacting Steve Winkelman directly.

So I tried looking at the plugin on Github, never used that before. I downloaded the solution, but get tons of errors. I am missing some file. I am not sure, but I don't know what the result of polling multiple stats without sending an address identifier first. I will have to use the terminal emulator and try it at home tonight. Other parts of the code show setting the address 1-15. for setting the data. But it might get stuck on the initial polling. Not quite sure yet. A lot of lines of code to look through to see what it is doing. Never looked at a plugin before, so I am not quite sure what I all need to compile this.

So I looked at the code a bit. A couple of things, My TR16 doesn't look like it supports an SC command. Also it looks like it needs "A=1" or "A=2" or "A=3" or "A=4" before the R1 R2 commands. I will try it tonight to see what you get without it.

For multiple stats A=1 is required

So you need to address the stats to get the info. I tried it at home with the terminal emulator without, and it does the same as the plugin. It don't work. If you call out the address. it works fine. Does anyone know how to modify the code to get the address in there.

more info on the plugin programming

So the plugin would send commands to the thermostat, and never process the data. It never showed up in the log. For one thing it thought the address was coming back from the thermostat as A=1, 2 or 3 but it actually would come back as O=1 or O=2 or O=3. So it would not get back the info for the correct stat. I'm not to good at playing with this plugin yet. Still working on it. One thing I am not sure of is my code screwed up the thermostat data in the device manager. 2 stats are ok, but the third one is broken up into 2 different blocks. Anyone know why this would be happening? I have included a couple of code snippets of what I think is wrong. Maybe this is just a problem with the TR16 stats. I don't have any others to test it on.
