Thanks. Will try after work. Can you give me an example of the xxxx after DeviceType? Is it based on Insteon device (dimmer, KeyPadLinc, etc.)? If yes, could you give an example for a SwitchLinc dimmer?

The devicetype is a four digit numerical code. I have a new idea for getting this all back together.

      1. save off the good homeseer database with your insteon hs devices

      2. register all your insteon devices in the plugin to rebuild the insteon.ini

      3. replace the current homeseer database with the 'good' homeseer and restart hs

this may reconnect the insteon devices with the hs devices so your triggers and events aren't broken.

When you say to register the devices, you mean to add or tap-add them all into the plugin, right?

Success!! So far, kind of... I had open the HSD file that contained all my HS devices. I re-added one dimmer switch to the plugin. It connected and assigned the same old HS Device ID, so events are still good. I restarted HS. That device remained in HS, in the plugin, and in the Insteon.ini file.

BUT... The rest of my devices, which were in HS but not in the plugin, we all wiped out from HS again. :-( So, I guess the procedure is to keep adding the rest of them this way before restarting HS.

Thanks again Mark!! I'll update on progress here again later. When I'm all done, I'll update to the latest plugin version to avoid losing the Insteon.ini in the future.

              Hey Mark,

I have seen similar behavior since my most recent upgrade to Insteon plug-in 3.0.6.0. I haven't lost the Insteon devices on the manage device page, but the references to the devices have changed. My events for Insteon devices stopped working, when I view the events I see "device with ref=xxx not in the system." This has happened twice, and I need to rebuild the events.

Any idea what is causing the device references to change?

              Thanks

the dev ref should only change if you removed the device from the plugin and then re-added.

I would recommend rolling back to an insteon.ini and homeseer database from the same day.

upgrading the plugin should not change dev refs.

I haven't made any Insteon device changes. It happened twice with this version of the plug-in but didn't occur immediately following the upgrade. I would also add that it seems to have occurred both times after a reboot.

                      Hi Mark,

I recreated all of my events that have Insteon devices in them. They all were working, but now I see that the events are "corrupt" again showing the missing device references. There is nothing in the Homeseer log that shows anything other than:

Event Sunset Triggered Welcome Home, Action of Control a Device could not be carried out because its configuration is not complete.

is the insteon device that you configured in the event action missing from HS, or just missing from the event definition?

It is just missing from the event definition. The Insteon devices are there, I can re-add them to the event definition. When I test them, they work properly, but after a period of time, I end up with the same result as my screenshot above.

When I look at the event definition for the event that i included in my screenshot, the device reference ids did change. Something is causing the plugin to change the ids. Which logs would be helpful to troubleshoot?

can you look through the insteon error logs and see if you see any entries where the device in question is either deleted or recreated by the plugin
