WGL W800USB RF Antenna Kit - Working

Okay, I will try and focus on one issue at a time here. I purchased the WGL W800USB RF Antenna Kit along with the ACT TI 103 interface and the HSPRO software. I installed the WGL Antenna Kit and remover my RR501's and now none of my RF stuff is working. Motion Sensors specifically. Home Seer support tells me to go the this message board for assistance. I do understand Home Seer is a small company and are probably stretched pretty thin. I would very much like to make this all work. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the WGL W800USB RF Antenna Kit and making it work with HSPRO?
I will see if I can get some log entries on here to help. Thanks in advance.
This is what I found in the log relating to this issue when I startewd Home Seer up just now:

Personally I do not see any issues related to the ACRF2 plugin / W800 with the log you posted.

Try a simple test using some remote keypad or similiar with it next to the antenna, meanwhile turn on some granular logging.

You will see the plugin/W800 chatting away.

You can disable the message about "this property has been depreciated" on the main setup page in Homeseer.

Disable obsolete API procedure warning messages:
I have two W800's connected to two antennas (one in the attic and one on the main floor) and both devices and antennas work fine.

Mostly only use it with the old x10 palm pad to manually turn on and off sprinkler zones.

Did you configure the ACRF2 plugin via the Setup > Interfaces tab?

        Thank you Pete and Rupp-

Yes I did configure the WGL W800USB on the interface page. That page shows the "interface ok." I will get a remote and take it ou to the garage where I placed the antenna and see if I can generate any RF. I apologize I do not know what granular logging is and I do not see on the main setup page where I would disable that obsolete message. Let you know what I find out with the remote.

I did not have to go to the garage. In my office with the remote, I am able to see commands and the lights do respond. That tells me the WGL device is working fine but Home Seer is not seeing it. Is my assumption correct? Here is what the log said when I sent signals with the remote:
12/7/2012 10:15:01 AM - Device Control - Command sent to 1st Floor My Office My Office Desk Lights: D1 On Dimval: 0 Data: 0

I'm hoping that that little test with the remote provided some clue as to what the problem may be?? What should be my next step?

              no

If the lights went on in your office; then your W800/plugin responded to the remote control then told the CM11A to turn on and off the lights.

Where is it you want to see that Homeseer is working with your CM11A?

If you refresh the X10 defined variable then you will see the change from on to off or from off to on when you press your remote control.

If you enable logging for same said variable you will also see it turn on and off.

You could also test the range of your remote by taking an X10 chime module with you from room to room and listen for it and check your X10 CM11A signal throughout the house.

The RR501 talks directly to the powerline such that whenever you push a button on your remote it sends out X10.

The WGL W800 is only a receiver which talks only to its usb port.

The WGL V572 is a transceiver. You could purchase this and connect it to a TW523 and talk to the powerline this way; similiar to your RR501.

Thank you for getting back to me. Let me see if I can answer your questions.
I do not have a CM11A. I am assuming that is an X10 interface of some kind? The interface I am using is the ACT TI 103 X10 Interface. As far as I can tell, it is working fine.
I apologize, Ii'm not sure what you mean by refreshing the X10 defined variable.
I can operate my office lights, D1 and D2 and my xmas lights D3 and D4 with the remote from anywhere in my house.(All I have is a camera remote and it only goes up to 4)
The garage motion sensor is set to send a command of D5 ON to the X10 outlet I have at my workbench. That is working now without a RR501 being plugged in.
Here's what does not make sense. I changed the Front Porch Motion Sensor to D7. I set the X10 Chime in my office to D7. The chime goes off when the motion sensor is tripped but only if a RR501 is plugged in. When I unplug the RR501, the motion sensor does not ring the D7 Chime in my office nor does it put a D7 signal on the powerline when I look at the log.
I placed the antenna in the garage, high up and it is only about 6 feet from where the RR501 was plugged in. Why doesa one motion sensor work with the WGL device and the other motion sensor not?
What am I missing or doing wrong?

Does the motion sensor (that doesn't work) work if you move it closer to the W800 receiver? There are several older threads on how to beef up the antenna on these. Many of use use two receivers as well to help with this issue.

The antenna is out in the garage maybe 5 feet from where the RR501 was plugged in. Is the antenna that weak where I need to check it? The sensor is outside the garage maybe 25 feet from the antenna. The actual receiver is in my office.
So if I understand you, you are thinking that maybe the current locations of the antenna and the front porch motion sensor are somehow not compatible?
Logically, I guess my next move has to be to change location for one or both of those components. Well, it pretty much has to be the antenna because i need the Front Porch Motion Sensor pretty much where it's at. Let me do some more checking. I shut Home Seer down and started it back up and I just walked out front into the garage. The garage motion sensor did turn on the X10 outlet set to D5 when I walked into garage and sent an OFF command when it did not detect activity for a minute. The front porch motion sensor(D7) did NOT activate the Chime in my office nor do I see any record of any activity on D7. Here's the log since the restart if that helps any. Besides illustrating that I have more than just one problem with my new system. Ha Ha.

Next step now is to play with antenna location I guess. The RF connection between the front porch motion sensor and the antenna is the variable I should look at, right? The troubleshooting I've done leads me to believe that. Well, here goes. Thanks again.

Okay guys. I moved the antenna maybe 2 feet and lowered it and now all my motion sensors are sending RF signals that are being converted to powerline commands and my RF Devices are operating normally now.
Like I've said, I am new to this so I am surprised that the antenna location was so critical. I thought by going to the W800USB WGL RF Antenna Kit, I was improving the whole RF function in my system. So I learned.
Again, can't thank you guys enough for the help. Hopefully I will be in a position someday to provide assistance to some newbie who is struggling.
If you have read my log posts, it is apparent that I have other issues to deal with. I will pick one issue and ask for help in the proper discussion area. Unless anyone has any ideas on what would be the next most important step? Thanks

Yeah; thought you were using a CM11A; works the same though with a TI103. Funny here I have had and used just about every X10 interface that HS every sold.

The WGL W800 antenna I used is on the main floor of the house is the same one you purchased. It is buried in a wall behind one of the in wall speakers in the middle of the house.

I purchased a Radio Shack scanner antenna for the second W800. This is mounted in my attic above the second floor of my house.

There are a few HS users which also use the same Radio Shack scanner antenna. I purchased it on sale a few years ago. Do a quick search and you will find how folks are connecting the W800 to an antenna. You will also see some home brew antenna stuff from the MR26A days.

I can go about three houses away from my house to trigger W800 configured variables with this setup.

You should be able to get better reception with the w800. It's a good device. As suggested, you might benefit from the antenna additions. It looks like a spider. If you go this route and still have problems, attach a UHF booster at the antenna end.

Attached is a picture of the antenna I have in the attic.

I thought it had been discontinued by Radio Shack and noticed that they still sell it.

Thank you very much guys. I would very much like to make my RF circuit as strong as possible. Never know what the future will bring. So I will check out Radio Shack. Looking at the picture, that antenna has got to go in the attic. With all the stuff going on with me learning this new software and hardware, the WAF is a little touchy right now. What's the best move? The antenna or the UHF Booster?
