    Cannot Update Z-Wave Plugin on Linux - Fixed!

    Running HS3 on Linux (an RPI3, actually) I've been unable to update the Z-Wave plugin in quite a while -- I'm on 3.0.194; 3.0.130 is current. Each time I've tried over the last few months I get the message:

    'Install/Update of packages HomeSeer Z-Wave failed.'

    The only log messages I can find are in /var/log/daemon.log. The relevant messages are:

    Sep 9 12:30:57 elms-hs3-01 mono[1603]: 12:30:57:3888:[Updater]->Downloading update: HomeSeer Z-Wave
    Sep 9 12:30:58 elms-hs3-01 mono[1603]: 12:30:58:2291:[Updater]->Update HSPI_ZWave.exe downloaded successfully
    Sep 9 12:30:58 elms-hs3-01 mono[1603]: 12:30:58:2301:[Updater]->Installing package HomeSeer Z-Wave
    Sep 9 12:31:00 elms-hs3-01 mono[1603]: 12:31:00:8330:[Updater Error]->Installation of package HomeSeer Z-Wave failed. Try disabling the plugin first, then re-try the update.
    Sep 9 12:31:00 elms-hs3-01 mono[1603]: 12:31:00:8344:[Updater]->Install/Update of package HomeSeer Z-Wave failed.

    I have disabled the Z-Wave plugin per the hint the log, but that didn't help. The system has even been rebooted with the plugin disabled to make sure the plugin was not running.

    Any suggestions?

    -M.

      Try the following:

      1.Disable the plugin
      2.Restart Homeseer
      3.Install the update
      3.Enable the Plugin

      I have this trouble too sometimes and this works for me.

      Good luck.

                  Just to be clear, you need to disable the plug-in, shut down HomeSeer and restart the computer, not just HomeSeer . The problem is with the O/S locking the executable. Restarting the O/S with the plug-in disabled releases the executable and allows the new one to be installed.

                    Thanks, but same issue

                    Disabled plugin, told HS to shut down, waited until no leds flashing, unplugged Zee, waited 30 secs, went into HS again, Zwave plugin still disabled, tried to update and:

                    I've done this before that's how I got .162 installed.

                    Thanks for your help here!

                      HS ADMIN Please take a look! - Got it working

                      There is something broken in recent updates.
                      I SSH'd into Zee and found the ZIP file going into the ZIPS directory but they weren't getting UNZIPPED. I tried manually unzipping but got a PERMISSIONS error. Entered command SUDO unzip ZWave "x'.zip from Updates3 and got all the files, Then I manually copied the new ZWave.exe file to the HomeSeer folder and restarted and HS found the new .exe.

                        Thanks, not really sure what is going on there but will investigate.

                        We did just post a beta, build 393, can you update your zee to 393 and see if the issue is still there? When I tried to update to the latest zwave plugin it updated ok on 393.

                          There was a problem with the Linux install of the plugin, this has been fixed in build 3.0.1.173 or later.

                            Build 3.0.1.173 of the plugin or of HS3 itself?
