    plugin crashes TX-NR545

    I have the TX-NR545 receiver

    It usually starts with the ARC (audio return channel) that stops working after a couple of days.
    Sometimes the receiver won't show a HDMI signal at all.
    The solution is to unplug the power cable and plug it back in again.

    This is not the first plugin that made the receiver behave like this. I used to control the unit with my Vera Egde and it had the same behaviour then.

    I already have the latest (and only available) firmware installed.

    Does anyone have a solution for this?

    Do u get any errors when it crashes?
    Can u turn on debug logging and capture a debug log of it crashing
    Once you have the log, log a ticket on my help desk and attach the debug log zipped to the ticket

      To be honest I haven't look at the log files because the Vera plugin showed the same behaviour I assumed that it the fault of the receiver.

      Also I haven't purchased the plugin yet because of this and the trial period has expired even though I removed the plugin after a couple of days and wanted to give it a try again yesterday. Is there a way to reactivate the trial period?

      -- Edit --

      Just send HS Support an email with the question to reactivate the trail period. When I get the plugin working and the receivers crashed again I'll add the log's.

      Thank you in advance.

        Sounds good.
        I wonder why the receiver would do this - seems odd

          Yeah I replaced 2 receivers and 2 cables and almost a tv before I figured out that it was caused by an external device

          I wanted to read the help file but whenever I click on help I tries to redirect me to
          http://HSServer/BLHelp/BLOnkyo/BLOnkyo_Help.asp but that won't load even though the file is on the server (./etc/HomeSeer/html/BLHelp/BLOnkyo/BLOnkyo_Help.asp)

          Also I noticed the following. The receiver is in standby and every 10 seconds (or any other number that the 'Receiver Polling Seconds' has configured) the receiver makes a clicking noice (probably a relay) and displays this message in the display 'Not available' it did this a couple of times before I switched the plugin off and I noticed that my ARC was not responding any more.

          the only line of debug code was this
          Code:
          2017-03-10 19:21:55	BLOnkyo start	BLOnkyo Debug Logging is Enabled!
          2017-03-10 19:21:55	BLOnkyo start	Receivers have been loaded.
          2017-03-10 19:21:55	BLOnkyo start	BLOnkyo plugin has been initialized
          2017-03-10 17:34:32	BLOnkyo start	Initializing BLOnkyo...
          2017-03-10 17:34:32	BLOnkyo start	BLOnkyo version is: 2.0.45.0
          2017-03-10 17:34:32	BLOnkyo start	Loaded configuration successfully
          2017-03-10 17:34:32	BLOnkyo start	No receivers have been assigned to BLOnkyo!
          2017-03-10 17:34:32	BLOnkyo start	BLOnkyo plugin has been initialized
          Whatever the polling does my receiver doesn't respond well to it.

          I changed the send code {CR}{LF} / {CR} but that didn't help.
          Is this information helpful?

            Hi Blade,
            If this is something that's almost impossible to solve or if it's not worth the time because it's a receiver that's not used that much, then I totally understand.
            If you would be so kind to let me know then I can look for other options to control my receiver.

              Can you capture a debug log of your receiver not working properly
              I would like to see if I can see any errors

              1. Disable plugin
              2. Make sure the HSPI_BLOnkyo.exe is not running
              3. Edit hspi_BLOnkyo.ini in config folder and change debugLevel=true
              4. Save INI file
              5. Re-enable plugin

              Now try some receiver functions.
              Once done, go to the plugin options page and turn off debug logging

              Attach the debug log zipped here
              Tell me what you tried and what did not work
              Cheers,
              Bob

                I edited the ini file like you asked but it doesn't give me any logging...

                This is the ini
                Code:
                [Settings]
                supportForumUrl=http://forums.homeseer.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1178
                serialConvertDone=true
                receiverPollingSeconds=10
                debugLevel=true
                helpFolder=/BLHelp/
                [Receiver Commands]
                command_PWR00=PWR00|Power Standby
                command_PWR01=PWR01|Power On
                command_AMT00=AMT00|Mute Off
                command_AMT01=AMT01|Mute On
                command_SPA00=SPA00|Speaker A Off

                command_MVLUP=MVLUP|Master Volume Up
                command_MVLDOWN=MVLDOWN|Master Volume Down
                [Receiver=1]
                number=1
                name=Onkyo TX-NR545
                connectionType=TCP
                ipAddress=172.16.148.32
                port=60128
                commandEnd={CR}
                timeToWaitForResponse=500

                zone3Exists=false
                zone4Exists=false
                pingFailures=2
                And this is the only logging after switching the plugin on and off a couple of times and sending several commands to the receiver.

                Code:

                The commands I tested were working but that's not the issue. My problem is that the receiver receives a polling packet from the plugin and it responds to it in a way that's not normal.
                When the receiver is off is makes a clicking noise every 10 seconds (the relais) and displays the message 'not available'
                When the receiver is on is only displays the message 'not available' displays every 10 seconds.
                (See attached picture)

                After it has done this a couple of times the receiver doesn't work anymore. i.e. no HDMI output or ARC.

                  Could you tell me what the polling packet looks like?

                    The debug log is called BLOnkyo-Detailed.log and should be in your HS3 root folder
                    The packet comes in bytes and has to be converted
                    Cheers,

                      *mumbles why would you put the log there and not in the hslog.
                      Looks at log size just after 30 seconds or so..... 110Mb ah ok that's why.

                      How can I send you the log? Wetransfer?

                          Wow never seen a file shrink from 110 Mb to 242Kb in a zip file.

                          Thank you for your time with this issue.

                            OK I will take a look and let you know

                            The plugin does poll the receiver occasionally - maybe it is polling too much for your receiver. It looks like it may be asking for something that is not available on your receiver. I will try and nail that down
                            Cheers,

                              Thank you.

                              I've adjusted the polling interval to 6 hours but that still breakes the ARC/HDMI output but it just takes longer.
