2 sets of speakers on 1 pc

I have my HS3 pc in my office.
I ran the speaker wires from it to the living room, controlled with a x10 appliance module.
Now I want to put a set of powered pc speakers in the bedroom and run it off a x10 appliance module also.
I tried it along time ago with just a "Y" cable coming out of the sound card. Now that old pc has no sound.
    A friend said i need a audio distributor. (?)
Would this stuff set me up to work?

I tried it along time ago with just a "Y" cable coming out of the sound card. Now that old pc has no sound.

This could happen if you shorted out the audio cables from the computer (plus and negative of each pair of wires.)

Speaker outputs can be split too but the audio coming from a computer isn't that loud.

    First link above is

1 - RadioShack 1500320 1-Input/4-Output A/V Component Video Sound S-Video Distribution Amplifier Splitter It is more utilized for legacy RCA analogue / S-Video and stereo TV stuff.

2 - Logitech Multimedia 2.1 Speakers Z213 for PC and Mobile Devices - work work fine with a computer line level output

3 - yueton 2 Pack Gold 3.5mm 6" Stereo Female Mini Jack To 2 Male RCA Plug Adapter Audio Y Cable - you do not need these cables.

    4 - AmazonBasics 3.5mm to 2-Male RCA Adapter Cable - 8 Feet - the one I posted below is $2.99.

This would work as an audio line level splitter:

For the appliance module use you could cut the ground of each of the split cables and solder leads here to go to an appliance module.

For just speakers you can use the appliance module on the positive or negative wires on the speakers. You can also utilize an speaker AB switch that lets you utilize speakers A or Speakers B or both.

Nicer sound would be to utilize line level to two sets of amplifiers in each room.

You can split line level audio sound without much of a loss in the audio and just utilize good amplifiers at the ends of the line level.

Somebody (thinking) was selling an old HCS AB8SS speaker switcher very reasonably. I still use one here. Now going well over 10 years. Works perfect.

You could control this device with IR, X10 or a serial cable. You would only need one amplfier for it. (it does have 8 pairs of speaker outputs).

Here is the same Amplfier I have today. It is over 15 years old now. (this is in addition to my Russound distributed sound amps)

You can utilize your X10 appliance modules with the speaker outputs.

Plug this device in to the aforementioned AB8SS or AB switch.

    or

Get stereo bluetooth speakers and do wireless.

Here is an article relating to multi-zone audio and automation.

There are a few Homeseer users here today using the XAP 800.

Googling Ebay see them for as little as $35.00 USD.

Most cost reasonable would be just to split the line outputs to two pairs and turn on or off the amps/speakers with X10 appliance modules.

Each of the pairs of speakers would have their own amplifiers.
