How often are you running the script? I don't actually know, but I suspect they will throttle IP addresses that hit them too often. I'm not seeing any failures to get the XML, but I only run the script every 10 minutes.

I assume your internet connection has been solid?

without reading and putting together pieces of a 17 page thread, where is the best place to get the script and all i need to run it? i simply need to be able to put weather warnings into virtual devices..

            Weather Warning in WV

I got Weather Warnings shows up on the status page, but didn't announce it. It had been working fine until I did the update. Great program, never had any problems with it until now. Could someone give me some ideas, thank you in advance.

I'm back from almost 2 weeks of bliss in Maui. Ahhhhh... Now, who are all you people, and what are you doing disrupting my dream?

              Pete,

You didn't mention the debug, so I'm assuming you didn't collect any or didn't look at it. I'd be curious if it is the same problem we saw before.

For everyone else - Pete has a very strange situation that I don't know what to about, but maybe someone here can figure it out. My script is doing the same thing it does for everyone else, pulling the ATOM feed for alerts from the NWS site. In Pete's case, when he pulls it, he is getting stuff that is many hours old, up to days. So, when there is severe weather going through, he doesn't see the alerts via Snevl_WW because it is still seeing the previous morning or whatever.

I pulled data from the exact same ATOM feed for his state, and saw completely different data. I can't for the life of me figure out how this could be. Does anyone have an idea?

                Daniel,

Try Pete's solution he listed a few posts back. The speaker instance defaults to "*.*" instead of "*:*" as it should be. Check that, and change it if needed (don't forget to save the config).

                  Welcome back Steve;

Think I found the reason for the "back to the future problem".

Frustrated tonight I deleted all of the Homeseer WW variables under status. I highlighted them and just deleted all of them.

I then went to the configuration. They were all there; so I did a save. I went to the WW events and ran it manually.

I then went back to the status page and all of the variables came back.

I then looked at the logs and see the following almost every couple of seconds now for the last hour.

I have never seen log entries like this; but with an unseen log entry like this it would make sense to see alerts days after they occurred; per our last conversation.

Aside from this it keeps sending my HSTouch screens to the WW alert page; only for a second; just enough for me to see it; then back to the main page.

Mine seems to be updating but the date/times don't jive, or the alerts don't go away when there is no alert.

I shut down HS and restarted it. Same HS log entries as above. I disabled WW event from running for the time being.

Odd; event is not running; its off; still see this in my logs though.

The log entries continued; so I shut down HS again and restarted it.

                        It didn't work:

The log entries wouldn't stop. I ended up restoring HS from last nights backup.

The log entries are gone but wondering what happened.

                            Pete,

I don't know what those log entries are. They look like you have Homeseer's event debug turned on or something. I assume you run Snevl_WW every 5 minutes? If the restore already made them quit it probably doesn't matter, but... If they come back, try doing this as an immediate script command from the control page:

                            &hs.debug=0

By the way: Every five minutes is probably too frequent to run Snevl_WW. I don't think that is the root of your problem, but you may be getting some special treatment from NWS if you are checking that often.

                            Steve

I was running Snelv_WW every 15 minutes; so I didn't understand why it was showing every 5 minutes. As I wrote. All I did was delete the Homeseer variables.

The whole "wait" thing though would make me think that it was maybe showing the underlying problem of the "back to the future" alerts; which would make sense if a few hundred (or thousand) of the waits would accumulate. Maybe they came up but maybe they've been there and not showing up in the logs?

Someone mentioned (and related to a historical issue months ago) was the stickyness of the HS variable sometimes even when wiped in the HS database. (IE: the "ghost" HS variable that doesn't leave - hidden or not hidden). I did look at the HS MDB file and found no "P" variables after removal; so thinking that was not the issue. When it was happening I did look at the threads and the VB script was listed; plus about 10 of the VB script events running; with an increase in the counts of same said event every time I looked.

It was very odd; nothing that I did stopped the event from running; like it had been cached; renamed the vb and the ini; and it kept running. I started to looking in the web for a VB script that would kill all .net running applications and couldn't find anything that would work. Finally the restore from back up did it.

The restore did make the log entries go away.

So thinking of totally removing any trace of the application and starting all over; tell me if I have the correct step by step:

1 - Use the Microsoft removal of application piece.
2 - comb through the Homeseer directories and wipe the HTML entries, Log entries, configuration INI files, vb script file and finally remove all of the variables.

I'm guessing that will work. When starting all over again maybe utilize a different variable (to be safe something other than "P"?)

BTW and off on a tangent; this morning's quest is an HP tablet; they are dumping them at $99/$149 but no one has them in stock...many folks bought 2-3 yesterday afternoon after HP's announcement.

Your steps sound reasonable, but I've never tried to completely remove Snevl_WW. I have a hard time thinking it will help, but it can't hurt.

I saw the announcement from HP. Pretty amazing. They just came out with that tablet too. Since it runs WebOS, I assume you are going to use it for other stuff? Doesn't sound like it will ever run HSTouch.
