    Not working with Serial UPS?

I have an older APC BACK-UPS 500 connected via a serial cable. In the Windows UPS panel it shows, and switches to "On Battery" for current power source when the power is disconnected to the UPS. The other three items in the status are greyed out - I think this is because the UPS is old and doesn't provide this information.

The plugin shows On AC power and says no battery. Disconnecting the power to the UPS does not change the plugin status. Any ideas? Thanks.

It only works with a USB UPS

      Check out apcupsd for HomeSeer

      I use apcupsd for HomeSeer:

      Main web site:

      http://apcupsd.org/

My APC Smart-UPS 1400 is hooked to my Windows Home Server (v1) with an APC serial cable running apcupsd for Windows (as master) and I have "networked" apcupsd running (as slaves) on my HomeSeer HSPro HomeTroller II (Windows version), my wview NSLU2 running Debian Lenny (Linux version) and my router/firewall/webserver running ClearOS (Linux version). They all get the same info at the same time whenever something happens on my UPS.

You may not need the multiple servers per UPS like I'm running, but apcupsd runs like a champ on my old APC UPS with a serial cable (it can also run with USB cables.)

You might also check out Jon00's APC monitor software (I'm not sure if it does serial or is limited to USB?) As far as I know (like Bob told you already) his BLUPS monitor only works on USB cabling.

There is another monitor in the updater but I couldn't tell you anything about it, though.
