You can also install LV / HV LED flood lamps way up high that will turn your home surrounding yard to daylight. You wouldn't use these lamps for normal lighting.
You can find these today for less than $50 each. You can also run LV / 12VDC wires out from your home and stick a couple of the same type of LED lamps on a tree if you wanted to.
The work involved would be a PITA; then again you can install sensors and IP HD cameras next to the spot lights way up high.
For a daytime doorbell ring use Homeseer TTS / camera facing the door and an ID request from person ringing doorbell and generate a 30 minute dog barking and running and banging at doors around the house sound when you are not there.
If you are worried about a vehicle then just do a wireless connection from your vehicle to the house alarm.
Whatever; sight and sound work the best.
You can also go to the dark side (even with sight and sound nowadays) but I wouldn't recommend it.
