    Example of Poor Message Quality

I also have always had poor message quality in HS. There are drops, or clips (if it's a loud message) or distortion. An example w/distortion and drops are attached.

I have the HS modem on an Intel 2.4G Hyperthreading-based CPU box, w/Win XP Pro. SoundMax is the audio management utility that came loaded on the system. The incoming volume settings are in the middle third of the range for phonein, line-in, wave, mic, aux. Calls come in from land lines - not cell phones. Any advice would be appreciated.

    John,
I did have this problem when I switched from my Zoom modem to the HST modem and the fix wasn't a very pleasant thing but wasn't all that bad either. I went in to the settings.ini file and removed all the setting under [hsphone]. I then restarted HSP and it adds the settings back BUT you have to reset everything. This is the down side. It might be worth a try and YMMV.
