How do I un-install an interface plug in?

Smarthome tells me that I can't install both the 2412 and 2414 plug-ins and that the 2412 is the one I need to work with the 2413 USB Insteon controller. They said they have not figured out how to remove a plug-in. Can anyone help with this? Or, alternately, what do I need to make the Insteon controller I purchased (2413) work?
