I have been curious to see if I can use the IRLinc 1623PC as a learner for other devices, namely the GC-100. After some trial and error, I discovered that the 1623PC uses the following serial port protocol: 19200,n,8,1 with RTS handshaking. I am able to send a command to initiate a learn. When it learns the IR signal, it returns what appears to be a string that contains the timing for the pulses. It looks very similar to the global cache format of on/off pairs. There is plenty of documentation on the global cache format, so it is easy to understand. Unfortionately, I do not have a GC-IRL. If I did, I could learn a singal through the CG-100, then compair the string to what the 1623PC outputs for the same IR signal and try to decifer it.
Maybe someone has already figured out the data stream from the IRLinc 1623PC. If so, post an explaination.
PS, I know this device is old tech, but if there is a way to use it as a standalone learner then it would save people having to buy a propriatery learner.
