    How to protect VOIP phone

I have a VOIP phone from packet 8. It works great except the box keeps dying. I've had 3 boxes die now. All 3 during thunderstorms but I've not lost any other electrical equipment during these storms.

The 1st 2 would not recognize when the local phone went off-hook. This last time the box is completely dead.

The 1st 2 I had a on a surge suppressor when they died. This last time I had the box on a UPS and it died. The phone line is connected to a cordless phone. The LAN connection is to my router. Those are the 3 connections I have and it's not doing the job.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep this thing from dying so easily ?

I'm inclined to say it's an inherit problem with the design of the modem.... especially with as many as you've gone through and the efforts put forth to protect them.... Just a guess ???

I use Vonage and the "box" (modem) is made by Motorola and it's been perfectly stable. I'm curious to know who manufactures Packet8's modem ???

Have you checked Packet8's forum ???
