    I'm following this thread closely. My units fan is a bit loud for its location(Guest bedroom closet). My plan was to replace the fan with a quieter version. If you do change, I would love to hear what you replaced it with and how loud it is/isn't. Thanks for the continued feedback.

It did just OK, but considering the placement of my speakers wont be directly in front of the mic, I'm optimistic it will perform better. Here's the link and I'll post back once this is running. Should be done within the the next 4-5 days.

      The mic is only $9.

        Thanks!
        My prediction would be that this mic performs badly.
        This is a none powered condensor mic that needs a lot of pre-amplification and it is only sensitive directly in front of the mic. It will pick up sounds clearly from a short distance. Getting sounds from a greater distance will generate lots of white noise due to the extreme gain level needed.

        They suck when using them on the XAP directly in an open air setting. You need to turn the gain completely open and make sure that the phantom power is turned off.

        Sorry to be so negative. I hope you prove me wrong.

          FYI:

          In the ZMC4 config file, for the Media Player it had the wrong file path for where my winamp was installed. My was installed in the 32bit (x86) program folder.

          EDIT; Also the wave file path is to HS2 Pro.

          You foresure wanna make sure this are pointed to your correct locations one you have the basics completed.

            Having Argument Errors when running a new event. Output is Room 8 on Master unit.

            Does this Command point to the second XAP800 (the slave), Looks like a couple other issues with that command also ?

              It's up to the user to descide where to install winamp or any other media player they want to use. For me it's obvious that you check this and correct it if needed. The config file gives information about this. Also the wav path setting is mentioned in the setup.

                Setting a unit to master or slave isn't defining who is in control of who. Both units can be master or slave in that case. Setting a unit to master will prevent that the expansionbus will throw up signals further upwards the chain.

                I will show you my writeup of the analyses of the error log

                Room(8) means that output 8 is used. When using a XAP800 this will be on the device with ID 0

                In your log i see that the ID is 1 which is incorrect

                The unitID is determined as follows

                Code:
                 intRoomNumber = 8 (got that from Room(8) )
                UNIT_TYPE = XAP800 (got that from #5 in the log)
                UnitID               = (intRoomNumber - 1) / OutputsPerUnit
                ChannelID          = intRoomNumber - (UnitID * OutputsPerUnit)
                The OutputsPerUnit variable is depending on the unit type you use

                Code:

                  If UNIT_TYPE = XAP400 Then
                          If NUMBOFOUTPUTS > 64 Then NUMBOFOUTPUTS = 64
                          OutputsPerUnit = 8
                      Else
                          If NUMBOFOUTPUTS > 96 Then NUMBOFOUTPUTS = 96
                          OutputsPerUnit = 12
                   End If
                So if i fill that in i get
                UnitID = (8 - 1) / 12 = 7/12 = 0.583
                Because UnitID is an Integer that wil become 0

                ChannelID = 8 - (0 * 12) = 8

                The result of all of this is that the matrix will be set
                This is the command as seen in your log

                #51 MTRX P E -4 O 1
                Where:
                #51 - XAP800 with ID 1
                MTRX - the command
                P E - Source is P channel of the E expansion group
                -4 0 - Destination is channelID -4 of the output group e.g. output -4
                1 - Turn it ON
                The -4 is an illegal channel number thus the argument error

                So your result is very strange.
                Could you send me your INI file and the ZMC script you use for this?

                  Thanks for finding this bug.

                  HS3 and vbScript handled the conversion of a floating point number to integer differently then i am used to.

                  I've include the last version of the script in the first post

                  In case that you are experimenting with VR and then you have to make sure that the rooms of the first 8 inputs are the same as the first 8 outputs. Or at least for the number of mics you use. e.g. 3 mics then input 1,2 and 3 should be the same room as output 1,2 and 3

                  So make sure you have them right in the INI file. The naming in the unit is just to make debugging easier. Remove all devices and run setup again and your done. Oh, and make sure that you place the connecters at the right connections at the back of the unit.

                  I have updated the setup page about this
                  See first post of this thread for the download link

                      So I'm started over from scratch to try and get this to work, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

                      New HS3 computer still running a trial of HS3Pro with only the z-wave plug-in at the moment. The XAP800 is directly connected to the serial port on the computer (COM1) and Gware connects and controls correctly.

                      The ZMC Script says it connects and setup completes, but I haven't been able to get responses from the unit. I even tried the termite program from above and I was able to successfully send the VER command (3.0.1 response) and the mute commands (#50 1 O 1, etc.)

                      I've included the Music in Livingroom log information below.

                      Also, I have a shot of the HS3 home screen showing the devices, those look right, correct? And log information when I hit one of the "on" "off" device buttons--but no response from XAP800.

                        If i look at your log then is see that you use wmplayer.exe

                        > Using player: C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe

                        - Does this actually start and does it play music?

                        - The wmplayer.exe tries to play e:\temp\test.mp3 but is this file there and does is play?

                        What you could try is to start the music in the livingroom as you did. You will see wmplayer starting. Open wmplayer and drag and drop a few music files on top of the player. The player should now be playing those files and you should hear the music.

                        - Is there a speaker connected to output 2 on the unit?
                        - Bram

                          wmplayer at the moment does not play anything when opened, so I've been doing as you suggested, have it open and playing, or adding music after it opens. In either case, I only hear music if I have the output previously enabled through G-ware.

                          I have speakers connected on outputs 1 through 6 and the HS3 server input on input 12.

                            Having a bit of trouble

                            Okay so I have it set up pretty much to default...

                            It connects..

                            but when I try to make it play music... it never starts winamp. and not even when it is open...

                            Here is my Log after reseting the XAP800 to default and opening your file and loading it as is and changing names to match ini file.

                            one question.. where is it getting the test.mp3 from.. there is no e drive on my system....

                              The ZMC4-Temp.ini file has a setting called LastStation. It's the first setting and it has the value e:\temp\test.mp3.

                              Copy the valy from the setting below it (LastRadio=LastStation=http://icecast-qmusic.cdp.triple-it.nl/Qmusic_nl_live_32.aac) and add that value instead of e:\temp\test.mp3

                              My develop machine isn't connected to the internet thus the test mp3 file. The mentioned value is an internet radio station that should work.

                              I've updated the zip on the download page with this.
