Is there a way to log an error from nodeMCU board?

I'm using nodeMCUs with wifi access to the plugin.

Is there a way to write a message/error to the HS3 log or some other logging mechanism?

haven't come across this so far, but a work around might be to get basic nodemcu info into log via mqtt broker(windows, cloud, or dedicated pi) and HS3 MQTT plugin(free).

I'd rather not introduce new components into my system that I don't already use. I'm sure MQTT and IFTTT will some day find a place but not now.

      Greig,

Thinking about SendToHS (...) function. Could there be a use case that for a known/specified device (HS3 log) the API app could write a string (a log entry)?

I cant say I have tried it but in theory you could create a device and then set it to update the string and then send the string to it at the moment. It is not as designed but I can not think of a reason for this to not work.

          Thanks Greig,

I'll play around with it this coming weekend.
