I downloaded the latest HS3 with the new icons. Nice work! Icons are now much more consistent across devices, quite attractive, and no longer have the circa 1985 look and feel - . And, I can always go back to the classic look and feel, and play some Eurythmics and Dexy's Midnight Runners music when I want!

      Good job. Just some comments:

      1. I'm used to using a green icon of a standing person for depicting a "No Motion" status. I like green since I am accustomed to using red for devices that I should pay closer attention to when scanning a long list of devices, and green for devices that I can ignore. The Motion status is red, so I thought the No Motion status should be green (with a person standing). A green icon for No Motion would be consistent with a green icon for Closed status of doors.

      2.

A)I'm not a fan of the colors used to depict On and Off status. When I scan my long list of devices late at night to see if there are any alerts or lights that I need to turn off, I'm looking for red icons (for any suspicious motion or open doors) and I used to search for the old yellow light bulbs. I like to look for lights that are on, so I can turn them off. Using a green icon for On status makes it difficult to scan, since closed doors are also green. I would have preferred maybe yellow (if one can associate yellow with a bulb these days of LEDs). But definitely something other than green would be good.

      (B) As for gray for off status.... In my old GUI work, I'm accustomed to using grey to mean no status to report, or device status not available. Using grey is appropriate for the way you use it for notification devices when they have nothing to report (like the notification child device of locks). But grey for off status doesn't seem right (and neither would be red). Maybe a black icon for off (and root devices that have no status should be grey instead of black).

      3. the thermostat fan mode icon looks like the old one. It's not consistent with the new look and feel.

      4. My iOS HS3Touch app isn't showing all the new icons yet. Does it need an update?

      5. Nice garage door icons, but I have no idea how to use the garage opening, garage closing and partially closed status (I use MimoLite for my garage doors). I guess if the momentary switch is on, I can figure out if it were open, and assume it's closing (and vice versa), but momentary switch is only one for a second so it's hardly worth the effort).

      Thanks again!

Any media player icons on the horizon? I still have the HS2 ones coming up on mine. Play/Stopped/Pause/FF/RW etc...

          Graphics missing

I just installed the new update . The graphics in the center column of device management are missing. I restarted a couple of times same results.

Go into the setup area of the program and click on the custom tab. On that page there are checkboxes to control which columns display on the device management page.

Due to the fact that the new contemporary icons were taking a long time to load remotely over a slow connection (yes I know browsers can cache the images) I decided to reduce the file size of the new contemporary icons. I managed to get the whole set down from 1.01 MB to 356 KB with (IMO) no real noticeable degradation.

I also did a re-sized set at 100x100 which comes in at 233 KB for the set.

How slow is your connection? Is it an old modem running at 14400? I just checked here and my entire status page loads in a little over 3.2 seconds and a lot of that was the loading of the Javascript files.

Status page displaying 280 devices loads in about 7 seconds over my wired GB LAN in Chrome browser.

At home I have a 10 Mbps up speed but at work we only have 4 Mbps download speed and the same status page can take 30 seconds to load using the same browser.

Granted most of the overhead is the Javascript stuff but every little helps IMO.

                    update

After I update Iphone or Ipad from the designer I have to reboot the device for HS to run.

Paul- I suspect most people are not going to notice a loading delay unless they have very slow internet connections. Your file sizes are certainly smaller but the image degradation is quite noticeable at the default image size (200x200). If you compare your set to the originals and look at the outside edge of the circle, you'll see a very jagged outline. The originals have a very smooth anti-aliased appearance.

That said, I have implemented additional compression on the original standard set with no discernible quality loss and we'll include those in the next update. Example: 6.3k files are reduced to 4k in the newer set.

I don't think I'm alone here with the thought that "Eye Candy" isn't HST's strong point. But then again, if it's free then I suppose it doesn't matter....

Perhaps better if we leave it at that.

While I appreciate the new icons and that you guys are evidently utilizing some sort of graphics art talent, perhaps Paul is on to something. It seems that if you spent your effort making HS "themeable" or skinable, then undoubtedly there would be some amazing eye candy available on this board, or in the udater almost instantly. I am a fan of the new hstouch default template, and HS has never looked better, but I imagine it's nowhere near as nice as it could look with themes. Plus with themes, everyone gets to be happy since they can personalize.

Now that icon sets are stored in directories and can be selected by a drop down in setup, there is nothing to stop anyone from creating sets of alternate icons. Just build icons with the same names as used in the Contemporary and Classic sets, put the setname.txt file in the directory, drop it in \HomeSeer HS3\html\images\HomeSeer directory and you have alternate icons.

The same goes with HSTouch. Since the default project is universal with every device I have installed, an enterprising individual could modify the program graphically, leaving the underlying function the same.

Thanks for the icons they are very nice! I wish I had know, before I spent hours trying to make very similar ones( but not as nice) last January.
And thanks for making the icon set customizable. This is a very big plus point!
