How to use Windows Homeseer 3, HSPhone and Way2Call

I have posted a poll relating to separating out the HSPhone piece of Homeseer 3 such that it runs as a separate and not integrated plugin.

This would allow use of Homeseer Phone on Linux (like the Zee2) running plugin on Windows.

Hardware
• Way2Call
• USB cable
• Power supply for Way2Call

Software
• Homeseer 3 (Windows)

Operating system
• Windows 7 32 bit
• Windows 7 64 bit
• Windows 10 32 bit
• Windows 10 64 bit

NOTE This post assumes that the user is familiar with Windows 7 and Windows 10.
The Way2Call drivers are not part of the stock Homeseer 3 build nor are they on the S6 hardware combo software devices
IE: In order to utilize the Way2Call device you must install the Way2Call drivers

Drivers
• Way to Call box Windows Drivers and test wizard (32bit and 64bit files attached)

Read this guide: (Note the guide was written for Homeseer 2 and the W2C drivers are identical for Homeseer 3).

Way2Call Installation Guide

The original Way2Call drivers came with the Homeseer HSPhone CD. The drivers directory was called HiPhone.

Installation

1 - shut down Homeseer 3 and leave it OFF until instructed in this post.
2 - install the MDD device drivers and wizard found in attached ZIP called wc2.zip.
A - The attached zip has 2 subdirectories. Extract both wherever you want. The two files can be extracted to and installed from the download directory.
B - You want to install the drivers / test wizard. MAKE SURE you are using administrative mode to install the wizard and drivers.
C - here you are only installing the W2C drivers. This driver installation does not install anything in the HS3 directory.
D - the 32 and 64 bit drivers and test wizard is attached here ==> W2C
or from the Way2Call website.

Multiple Devices Driver (MDD) latest Version 2.01.16.1 64bit
Multiple Devices Driver (MDD) latest Version 2.01.16.1 32bit

E - typically the downloaded files will be downloaded to your download directory. One is for Windows 32 bit and the other is for Windows 64 bit.
F - extract the files and click on the Install.exe (administrative mode) file which will install drivers and test wizard to your windows OS.

Driver files are installed in the Windows\system32 directory and seen like any program installed on a Windows computer. IE: start, programs, etc.

3 - Plug in the W2Call box to your computer (USB cable and PS)
4 - CHECK your device manager to check if drivers installed correctly. It should look like this.

5 - Run the test wizard.

STOP here - if W2C Wizard does not work then the W2C box will not work with Homeseer Phone.

If the test wizard works then continue to the following steps - if the test wizard is not working or you are not seeing the drivers in device manager start again from the top.

6 - Start Homeseer 3.
7 - Go to the Phone tab and select your way to call device (WayToCall HiPhone Desktop) as shown in this screen capture.

Please comment on the above or if I have left anything out or something I wrote is not understood.

Updated OP

Current distribution of Homeseer 3 (HSPro / Standard / S6) does NOT include the drivers for the Way to Call device.

Not sure how much of the HS2 Phone stuff was ported over to HS3 Phone stuff.

Here is the help pieces from the HS2 Help file:

Phone Keypad Command Summary

When calling HomeSeer Phone, you can give voice commands or use the keypad on the phone to navigate the menus. Depending on the how the system is set up, the commands may differ. Here is a summary of the available keypad and voice commands. Note that voice recognition is not enabled for normal callers who are not logged in. All the commands described here are set in the default command scripts. These scripts may be edited to change the prompts or the keypad commands. See the Command Scripts section for more details.

If the system is set to use the single mailbox command script (set in the Phone Setup screen), the caller is prompted to simply leave a message. The message is left in the default mailbox.

If the system is set to use multiple mailboxes, the caller is prompted to enter a mailbox number and the pound (#) key.

For either system (single or multiple mailboxes), the caller may enter their passcode by first pressing the pound (#) key. This causes the system to prompt the caller for their 4-digit pass code. After successfully entering their passcode and the # key, they are now in their private mailbox. They may also access the default mailbox by entering the associated passcode.

After logging in, you may enter commands using the keypad on the phone or by using voice commands. Here is a summary of the available commands.

How to trigger HS events using DTMF tones

1. Create an event using event-trigger "when digits entered on a telephone match". Choose your Way2Call as "line". Enter the digits you want to use to trigger the event. In the first example below, 22 will trigger the event. If you want to trigger an existing event [without changing that existing event], then create a new event that will be DTMF triggered, and have that event trigger your existing event. Example 2 below shows how. I would recommend using 2-digit triggers to avoid any accidental interference with the existing single-digit commands already in HSphone.

For external calls:
When your call is answered by HS and the voicemail prompt begins speaking, dial #. If you have mailbox passwords setup, you will be prompted for the password. When your mailbox prompt starts speaking, dial #. After a brief pause, you will hear a beep. After the beep, dial the digits for the event you wish to trigger, followed by #. You will receive a voice acknowledgement of the event name. NOTE: if your event contains "SPEAK" actions, you will not hear them down the phoneline, even if the "route to phone" box in the event is checked.
When the acknowledgement completes, you will hear another beep. You may run another event, or dial 9# to hang up.

For internal calls:
1. Enable "internal call answering" in phone setup.
2. To execute an event, take the phone off-hook and dial #. You will receive the voice prompt defined in the "Answer prompt" setting, followed by a beep.
After the beep, dial the digits for the event you wish to trigger, followed by #. You will receive a voice acknowledgement of the event name. NOTE: if your event contains "SPEAK" actions, you will not hear them down the phoneline, even if the "route to phone" box in the event is checked.
When the acknowledgement completes, you will hear the prompt and another beep. You may run another event, or any of the other DTMF-commands.
