    New Z-NET hardware VS old

    I apologize if this has been asked already. I could not find much information other than casual mentions in others posts regarding old Z-NET hardware VS new. I purchased my Z-NET controller when they first came out, so I have an external wifi chip on it. I am curious if there is any real advantage to the new hardware over the old. Does it support POE? I keep seeing users referencing their Z-NET controller connected over POE, so I am beginning to think that might be the case. Thanks for any replies

    The old ZNet device is a Raspberry Pi 2 and the new is a Raspberry Pi 3.

    The Raspberry Pi3 is using a faster CPU and has integrated Wifi and Bluetooth.

    The serial to ethernet connectivity of the Z-Wave daughter board / GPIO board is the same on the two RPi's.

    There is no advantage to the faster processing speed on the RPi3 relating to using the ZWave GPIO daughter board.

    POE connectivity is done with a POE power splitter and a barrel connector to mini USB cable. POE is not integrated to the RPi2 or RPi3.

    I utilize these TP-Link POE splitters (years now) for my Homeseer tabletop touch tablets and remote RPi2 - ZWave RPi2.

    Transport is ==>

    POE switch (managed or not managed) ==> POE Splitter ==>5VDC setting ==> barrel connector to mini USB connector + network cable.
