I will look and see what version of mono it is on Yak. I do have the wave.me card and thtat the one i want to have be remote but it was not cooperating very well. I tried what you mention to me in an earlier post but keep shutting down the plugin on the main box. I will keep trying not sure how to do the syn link stuff but will look it up. I was installing homeseer to set up the zwave card/device is that neccessary or should i just drop the zwave plugin and the config in the remote system?

I tried what you mention to me in an earlier post but keep shutting down the plugin on the main box.
You have to have the main box Z-Wave plugin disabled, I have the same version of the plugin on the old RPi2 / HS3 Lite box and using the same serial port as configured on the HS3 lite box. I also am running same Mono version. (makes a difference).
Test it manually. Open up an SSH session on the slave Z-Wave RPi2.
Another thing I do here is run NTP and DNS internal to the network and PFSense takes care of the rest.
NTP=PPS/GPS and DNS is multiple servers proxied over to PFSense.
Mono zwave.exe server=ip of the mothership. Leave the terminal session open and watch it as if there is an issue you will see it right away, Later once you see it working then just run a one liner script event in HS3 to start the Z-Wave plugin on the remote device.- Pete

Yeah your starting remote of Z-Wave looks to be way different than mine here.
Do you have matching mono versions? Is the SEL running in Linux?
How come you have your Homeseer directory in home?
"/home/homeseer/HomeSeer/Data/Z-Wave/Backup/Z-Wave2_5.db"
I keep my HomeSeer in the root drive of the Linux box. IE: /HomeSeer. Default HomeSeer on Linux is: /usr/local/HomeSeer.
For my remote old RPi2 to the new HS3 box I kept the old Homeseer directory in the root and run remote out that directory.
Windows and Linux do not mix for remoting Z-Wave. If doing this remotely on Linux than the mothership has to be Linux too.
The DB stuff looks wrong.
Here is what mine looks like. Note here that the serial port appears to be local where as in fact it is the same but remote.

Not sure when I started this I have never messed with Linux at all so it has been a complete learning experience for me but enjoyable one.
I just installed it where it wanted to extract but I can move it. What version of hs3 are you running and I will check the version's of mono.
I can do a reinstall of hs3 not a problem, I just would like to get it working l, since my house is larger would benefit from have remotes on each floor
I really appreciate your help!

Understood. Baby steps.
Here running with
HS3 ZEE S2 Edition 3.0.0.291 (Linux)
Z-Wave 3.0.1.80
Rpi Jessie on slave and Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit on Zee mothership
Mono JIT compiler version 4.4.2
You can just copy the HomeSeer directory from the mothership over to the slave Z-wave device. No installation or untar / extract necessary.
Just shut down Homeseer before copying it. You can utilize WinSCP to copy it.
Extracting the tar file will put it locally (wherever you are).
Here I like to keep HomeSeer in the root drive.
The default Zee install is /usrs/local/HomeSeer.
Here in a two story brick home at over 3k sf. All electrical is in conduit. Put the slave RPi2 / Jessie / ZWave GPIO and PiFace RTC / POE in the attic. The OmniPro 2 VRC0P is in the basement.
Also running Zigbee, UPB and X10 here.- Pete

Mono JIT compiler version 3.2.8 and Mono JIT compiler version 4.2.1 do not mix.
I had Mono 3.12 and 4.4.2 and the Z-Wave plugin wouldn't start.
You have to go slow and make sure that all of the Mono 3.2.8 are gone.
Googling found:
apt-get remove mono-runtime
apt-get remove mono-complete
apt-get purge mono*
sudo apt-get purge libmono* libgdiplus cli-common libglitz-glx1 libglitz1
sudo rm -rf usr/lib/mono /usr/local/bin/mono /usr/local/etc/mono /usr/local/lib/mono
sudo apt remove --purge --auto-remove mono-runtime
sudo apt-get purge libmono* cli-common mono-runtime
sudo apt-get autoremove
Whatever you do check to make sure it is not there doing a
mono -V
Then
Look here Install Mono on Linux
You probably want to make them both the same too.
So you should remove 4.2.1 and update it to 4.4.2- Pete

ok going to move HS3 to the root drive and i will unistall mono and reisntall the newest. The read only on the database worries me that it not gong to work until i can get the DB open for R/W acess. I questioned that from day one.
Yeah my house is about 4800 sq ft so it a challenge to keep things connected. I have lots of zigbee bulbs al over the house as well as zigbee leak sensors. what do you use for Zigbee?
I do have a legrand Q system but dont even use it too bad i couldnt incorporate it into HS
Well time fo me to go caght some bad guys off to work.

Understood.
I just put Homeseer in the root drive so as not to have to type as much when I SSH'd to the HS computer.
That said also my homeseer configured users all have access to same said directory.
Relating to Zigbee only testing with 3-4 combo ZWave / Zigbee Securifi controllers with touch screens and the HAI ZIM Zigbee controller on the OmniPro 2 panel.
The house light switches today are all UPB which works great for me and primarily is managed by the OmniPro 2 and secondarily managed by Homeseer.- Pete

Trouble installing HS3 in Ubunto
Pete,
Can you help an absolute newb to Linux. I installed Ubunto on a VM on my Synology DS718+ using Synology VMM. The installation went without a hitch and I installed mono complete. I have the HS3 file extracted and in the /home/user/HomeSeer folder.
At this point I have tried following all the guides to install the .tar file without success.
Can you give me step by step help please.
I can design ovenized crystal oscillators that can hold frequency to one part per billion over time and temp but Linux has me baffled. It seems to get harder to learn new things after one turns 70. The last command line stuff I did was using CPM in the 80's.

SSH to your new Homeseer VMM.
Currently utilizing Mono 5.X for my Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit Homeseer boxes.
ICS-HS3Pro:/HomeSeer# mono -V
Mono JIT compiler version 5.4.1.6 (tarball Wed Nov 8 20:37:08 UTC 2017)
Copyright (C) 2002-2014 Novell, Inc, Xamarin Inc and Contributors. www.mono-project.com
TLS: __thread
SIGSEGV: altstack
Notifications: epoll
Architecture: amd64
Disabled: none
Misc: softdebug
LLVM: supported, not enabled.
GC: sgen (concurrent by default)
The Zee2 and S2 default for HomeSeer is /user/local/HomeSeer.
I have mine in the root and other users that I have seen use /opt/HomeSeer
Create a couple of sudo users IE: homeseer and jim
sudo adduser homeseer
sudo usermod -aG sudo homeseer
Give rights to the HomeSeer directory to homeseer and jim or give everybody rights to the Homeseer directory.
sudo chmod -R 777 /usr/local/HomeSeer
To update Homeseer 3 just go in the subdirectory and run ./updatehs version number
IE: ./updatehs 368
Is the current release.
Match the passwords for your users in the HS3 GUI.
Here getting close to your age Jim this days...
Always tinkered here (for business and fun) with computers ....CPM - ML... in the early 80's bean counting ....no real computers (just terminals) existed when I went to school...played Star Trek though on the main frame via a teletype machine in a water closet while doing physics...
The updatehs files reads as so...you can do each line manually if you want...
root@ICS-HS3Pro:/HomeSeer# cat updatehs.sh
sudo rm hs3_linux_3_0_0_$1.tar.gz
sudo wget https://homeseer.com/updates3/hs3_linux_3_0_0_$1.tar.gz
sudo tar xavf hs3_linux_3_0_0_$1.tar.gz
sudo chmod +x install.sh
sudo ./install.sh
IE:
1 - to download current version of HS3 type
sudo wget hxxps://homeseer.com/updates3/hs3_linux_3_0_0_368.tar.gz*
* xx=tt
2 - to untar file to a HomeSeer directory type
sudo tar xavf hs3_linux_3_0_0_368.tar.gz
I use root to ssh. To use root you have to make a couple changes to one file /etc/ssh/sshd_config
nano sshd_config and add this stuff.
1 - comment out the following line: PermitRootLogin without-password
2 - Just below it, add the following line: PermitRootLogin yes
3 - Change PermitRootLogin to PermitRootLogin yes
4 - sudo service ssh restart
I can get a bit more granular if you want.Last edited by Pete; December 4, 2017, 10:49 PM.- Pete

HS3 on Ubuntu synology VM
Pete,
Thanks very much for the detailed help. I have to travel a bit and may not get this done until close to the holidays. If I run into any issues I will give you a shout. I did load the wrong version of Ubunto, so I will start over. The new Syno box is nice as it will allow me to have only one box running. I'm thinking all my plug in licenses should just move over to my VM.

Good news Jim.
HomeSeer will run on any version of Linux with Mono.
Here Homeseer seems to run faster for me on 64 bit Linux and 64 bit Mono than 32 bit stuff.
There are a few users running HomeSeer today on Ubuntu 16.10 and 17.XX.
I'm thinking all my plug in licenses should just move over to my VM.
Yes is you copy over your old HomeSeer directory to your new synology VM all of the license will be there. If you build new then you will need to register HS3 and plugins.
Curious which version of HomeSeer you are running?
HomeSeer Zee2, Standard or Pro?
All of the above run in Linux just fine.
A bit cold and windy and crispy this morning near Chicago. Last night while warmer it was interesting to hear thunder and see lightning. It's been a while since I have seen that in the Chicagoland area.
Safe travels to you Jim.- Pete
