I currently do not have locally imposed watering schedules where I live but water rates have gone up some in the last couple of years so I am changing the way I water my lawn.
I am currently utilizing the following.
Restrictions -
1 - not watering between 0-4, 10-16 and 22-0
2 - wind - speed above 20 MPH for 20 minutes
3 - preciptitation forecast and actual
a - within next 1 day with 80% probability
b - within prior 1 day with .10 inches
c - on today for .01 inches
Only "rain sensor" that I am using is a tipping bucket but considering reconnecting and adjusting the "Rain Bird" rain sensor to give me more feedback for rain.
Area setup - I have 10 zones set up with one area.
Area 1 control strategy
- ET (calculated) - Minimum moisture set to 65%
- set to 100% after cycle
Area 1 Water supply -
just installed a water flow valve to measure water flow but currently not implementing "max flow per day".
Weather setup
Method to determin hourly and daily ET
- calculate based on weather
- solar intensity factor = 1
Optional alternative weather source
- weatherunderground (4 local stations)
Optional alternate UV source
- US EPA
Weather Sensor Source
- temp - HS
- humidity - HS
- ET - computed
- wind - HS
- Rain - HS
Solar
- computed from UV
UV
- EPA
Solar Radiation
- HS - using hobby-boards light sensor (indirect light- never in full sun)
- Forecast all from NWS
Everything else is currently at defaults.
I am wondering what methodologies other folks are using for watering their lawns?
