New Z-NET not accepting restore node config and home ID

Hi guys, looking for some advice here.
I am running HS3 Pro on a windows 7 machine and have just purchased a brand new Z-NET V2 - Version 1.0.23, to upgrade from my aeontec USB Stick. As 'instructed', I backed up the USB stick network then deleted the interface and unplugged the stick. But I am having some trouble configuring the Z-NET, for some reason it does not want to accept the restore from my backup file.

HS3 always says it's successful but really it's not the Z-NET always has the 14 nodes it got delivered with and never registers the new home ID. Please help.

FYI, the Z_NET is wired straight onto the router, I can manually connect to the Z-NET webUI and see/alter the network settings. I can also successfully ping the Z-NET

    Code:
Pinging 192.168.0.29 with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 192.168.0.29: bytes=32 time=3ms TTL=6
    Reply from 192.168.0.29: bytes=32 time=3ms TTL=6

    Ping statistics for 192.168.0.29:
        Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
        Minimum = 3ms, Maximum = 3ms, Average = 3ms
Also, below are, the back up file and the log from HS when creating a new interface and trying to restore my backup. As well as what the interface setup looks like after the supposedly restore.

    Update...

Tried everything, even a fresh HS3 Pro install, even on a separate PC...

The 14 nodes showing up after restore are definitely coming from some config file in the Z-Net, unfortunately HS Support does not want to tell me which and where this file could be...

Sent the above post in an email to the support. The answer was, Erase the interface and try adding the devices manually instead of restoring :s

    Not looking forward to that

Will do this next week and post an update.

The node information is stored in the zwave controller chip, which is located on a GPIO daughter card mounted on the Raspberry Pi motherboard. The Raspberry Pi itself knows nothing about this.
Can you erase the interface? Getting it to 'virgin' no-node state is the necessary 1st step. Then perhaps you can try the import again.

I got the exact same issue as this (dated) thread. No matter what I do , I cannot restore the correct homeid onto the new controller.

        Backup: good
        New Controller network connectivity: good
Powering off the original ztroller : good
removing the original ztroller from homeseer: good
Power up the new Z-NET v2 controller: good
Enable Controller: a new home id is immediately created and it becomes visible in homeseer
Begin restore: goes through fine and iterates through all the nodes in the original list, status window reports : done

reload the page: new network is created, and is active
old home id : "no controllers present"

I tried to erase the new controller multiple times, that got me absolutely nowhere...

any ideas how this can be made functional?

I also tried powering up both controllers and using "send network information to another controller", the other one needs to be set in receive mode, but that fails since the UI doesn't allow me to click two buttons for two controllers
I also looked at the zwave file in text editor, network id in it is correct.

Update: Erased the controller from HS3, unplugged it, waited for a few minutes, plugged it back in, tried to restore. It is now hanging on "Saving" in the restore window with logs spamming :

          Hi,

I ended up deleting all my devices from homeseer, removing the usb stick from homeseer, unplugging the usb, plugging the znet on the network, resetting the znet, and re added every devices one at a time... Painful...

I also had to exclude every device one at a time before being able to re add them.

Fortunately you can exclude a device even if it's not already included. ie I could do the exclusion procedure with the znet for devices that were part of my usb stick network.

          Hope this helps

Thanks. This sounds insane... I got 57 devices

            Also,
ZWave Plus allows long range additions, however the old style zwave does not. The manual for z-net v2 device says : you should still hold z-net device a few feet away. However... the thing doesn't have batteries, it is nice that it has wi-fi, but how in the world am I supposed to power it up lol...

            I have a feeling I'm missing something.

On fixing the original device, if I understand correctly, the daughter board is connected via serial interface inside z-net ARM CPU linux box, can I write data to serial port manually? if so.. what am I writing?

Most devices will probably add at a distance. However, add any z-wave plus items first then the older ones. Also, you can put the z-net on a long extension power cable for any that won't add remotely. You can probably manage with a long cable to do everything on one floor before powering off and moving to another floor.

What would be really cool though, if the product actually worked as advertised. This isn't exactly free, and it simply isn't working as designed.

I'm going to call this in on Monday, there needs to be an upgrade path. I find the entire waste of my time to be, frankly, ridiculous.

I'm having the exact, identical situation myself.

Got a V2 Z-NET device today, backed up the old SmartStick interface, disabled, deleted, and removed it. When restoring the network to the new Z-NET interface, it appears to process correctly in the logs, but ends up with 0 additional nodes added to the Z-NET interface. It won't push the old Home ID to the new controller.

Tried calling the support number today as well and it wouldn't complete my call, not sure what's going on there. If anyone else has any luck without having to re-add 50 devices across 3 different floors in my house, I'm all ears.

I am also having this issue. I opened a support ticket after troubleshooting with a phone tech. Apparently there was a beta zwave driver released, but it did not resolve the issue for me.

                          Hi

Did you resolve the issue? I am trying to configure a new Z-Net and i am getting the same errors during the restore. No devices are being imported.

For anyone having the same issue, upgrading the z-wave plugin to .224 solved the problem.

Yep, that did it for me. How did you figure it out? I opened a support ticket and never heard back. Just assumed there was no activity.
