A while back I created a Bugzilla (http://homeseer.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1448) related to the fact that you need to shutdown the plugin/restart HS3 before an update. I have never heard that "it crashes the updater". Can you further describe the issue and if a crash add information to the Bugzilla as well? Is it an HS3 crash or a message that the installation did not succeed?

Basically i do most of my maintenance remotely as the HS3 machine is not that easy to work at.

what i have found is if i try to update, if fails and i cant update anything else until i restart HS3.

Shutting off the plugin didn't work.

this is the error i get:
              <table class="log_table_row" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td class="LogType0" colspan="3" align="left">
</td><td class="LogEntry0" colspan="8" align="left"> Error creating zip output file (C:\Program Files\HomeSeer HS3\.\\hspi_squeezebox.exe), The process cannot access the file 'C:\Program Files\HomeSeer HS3\hspi_squeezebox.exe' because it is being used by another process. </td></tr></tbody></table>

Even after shutting down the plug-in (i.e. plug-in process is gone when checking in the task manager), HS3 still locks the file. I have no idea why HS3 would do this nor been able to get a better handle on it. As I mentioned earlier I created the Bugzilla for it a while back (mentioned in http://board.homeseer.com/showpost.p...77&postcount=1 ) but no update from HST). I know it is a pain and not happy with it either, but will need HST to look at this.
