    Propane Monitoring

Has anyone ever done something to monitor propane level on a barbecue. Something like this https://tvlintl.myshopify.com/produc...e-model-tvl218 would be great if it could be integrated with HS.

I'd like to have 3-4 of these things, if they ever became available.

      Hi,

If you have, or can install, a R3D compatible dial, you have this option:
      http://www.tankutility.com/residenti...-tank-monitor/

I use it to monitor a underground propane tank and it works great.

      regards
      Mats

What do you mean. They are available on their website. I just wish I could integrate with HS. I like the scale option better. Besides I haven't found any R3D dial for a portable propane tank.

Out of idle curiosity (I have mains gas so no such need) they have a friendly API here so you would just need a script to talk to it - http://apidocs.tankutility.com/

I really meant "available," as in, "integrated with HS." And $800 to measure 4 tanks is a little over the top, IMHO.....

I just got one of these Gas Watch and will play with the Bluetooth and see what I can find out about it. It shouldn't be too much trouble to put this in a script, or better, write a plugin to monitor it.

I have yet to install the app on any of my Androids as Play Store says it's not compatible with any of them and won't let me download it. I'm confused, though, as it says it requires at least Android 4.3, and I have one at 4.3, one at 5.0, and two at 6.0. I have yet to receive any reply from the company even after many email requests and even phone attempts (one of the voice mail boxes says it's full). I'm on my second week of trying.

So we may be on our own if I can't get hold of anyone at the manufacturer to ask any questions.

Give me a couple of weeks or so to play around with it and see what I can come up with.

this seems like it would be even better to start with... but the reviews are awful.

Did you have any luck with these?

                          Mats,
I installed a Tank Utility monitor. How close does your readings match the gauge?

I has a script that will pull this stuff into Homeseer off of their server...

                            Quirky but workie...

Several years back I bought the Quirky Propane Monitor at Home Depot for like 30 bucks. It was a WiFi based system and worked well. It didn't like getting wet, but once dry it worked well. It was nice to be able to check the tank level remotely, especially if already at the store....

Bought a Weber that has it's own system so the Quirky went with the grill. They still sell them at Amazon....

I've ordered a Tank Utility monitor.

Would you mind posting your script here?
