speaker client responds when wake word isn't used?

I have a tablet with a built in microphone and speakers. I was hoping to get this to allow me to use voice recognition and say "wake word, turn on xyz light" it works, and turns on the light, but then it keeps trying to do things when I don't say the wake word. below is an example on how I hoped to have it set

    Me "homeseer"
    HS "yes"
    Me "turn on kitchen light"
    HS "ok"
    Me "thank you"
HS (stops listening for more commands)

last night I went to bed, then about an hour later I went downstairs and it was going off "I don't understand" "I Don't Understand" over and over and over and over... and over. I finally turned off the speaker client. does anyone know what would cause it to initiate when I didn't say the wake word (nobody said the wake word, because we were sleeping).

It's the voice assistant ghost that haunts Alexa and Google devices

Somewhat explainable with a cloud system.... un-explained (currently) with the local system....must be a ghost

log just shows it speaking. it doesn't seem to log what it recognizes unless there is a log somewhere else...

I have a light switch that does this, but nobody seems to understand how that could happen...
