    MyHS Service vs Built-in Server

I just recently updated my PHlocation PI to version .109 and was successfully in opening my PHLocation server port in both my port forwarding and firewall (Inbound - TCP port) which works well.

I now see per popular request, an option to avoid opening one's firewall port by using the same as MyHS service. My question is has anyone had a chance to compare both methods and what is the pro's & con's associated with each.

The only reason I ask is that MyHS connections sometimes seems at times to be slow and randomly drops off-line, whereas using the PHLocation server seems to work fairly well. Mike

You pretty well nailed it. When MyHS is running properly, there is slightly (1-5 seconds) more latency with GeoFency than direct to my server (virtually instant). When i was testing with MyHS (over 3 days), it was most often reasonably quick, but (my guess) 10% of the time it was over 5 seconds and twice it failed completely.

It never fails on my direct connection unless the Comcast or my server is down. Comcast has been up for 337 days and my HomeSeer server hasn't been down, except for planned maintenance in over 2 years. Since we count on fence reports for energy, heating, lighting and security, we are going to stick with a direct connection

My issue with opening yet another port is that another port IS a security issue. I already have an TLS encrypted front end for HS, so it would be ideal to use the built in web server instead of yet another one (with its own security issues).

But are you now saying that direct connection is possible?
