Would it be possible to change / modify this PI to act as a modbus slave instead of master? I have a few touch screens lying around and it would neat if I could use them as masters to control objects in HS.

This is certainly possible, but would be a lot more development to expose the HS3 devices as holding registers/coils. Given the limited demand for the PI right now I'm afraid it doesn't justify the investment. I'd also like to see a slave option for the PI. That would characterize it as a true gateway device when clients need to integrate another protocol to Modbus.
