Remote Thermostat using existing wiring ??

Any suggestions on which Thermostat I can use with existing wiring. I will be replaceing the standard thermostst that came with the house 4 years old.
AC & gas forced air. I can not run another wire over to it. So I need to use what's all ready in place. I don't want to use an x10 type , rs422 or 232 is fine
but would need one with a controler box that can mount back at the HAVC and comunicate with the thermostat with the existing wiring.
O of corce it need to work with HS old 1.7 and 2ver.

    ANY ideas?

If you can get by with only 2 settings (one called comfort and one called setback) you could install a second (setback) thermostat right at the furnace and then use an X10 module to control a relay which disconnects or connects your existing (comfort) thermostat. The setback thermostat is always connected and the comfort thermostat is only activated when triggered via Home Seer. If they are installed in parallel the comfort thermostat will override the setback thermostat when it is activated. I use a system similar to this on both our home and cabin and it works great. This system is used for both day/night and here/gone control. Just make sure you don't have one set to heat and the other set to cool. To power the relay I use an X10 relay (universal) module and a cheap wall wort power supply. The whole system is very simple and reliable. I got rid of all of our fancy dual temp thermostats which always seemed to have dead batteries and lost settings.

To monitor the inside temperature of the unoccupied building I hung a $7 thermometer in front of an X10 camera. I also have the unoccupied building send me an email every time the furnace goes on or off. That way I know it is working.
    Hope this helps.

What about the RCS 232/485 tstats? They usually take the existing wiring down to a controller, then the controller wires to the hvac. You then have another set wiring to your HS box from the controller. I had one of the X10 ones, but replaced it with a HAI RC80 due to it being too finicky with x10 noise. I love the HAI, but not an option as you need a 2nd set of wires for the 232

On the RCS 232\485 unit can you provide me with a link to it.

        Thank you
