    No data for 120 seconds

    Intermittently I am having trouble connecting to the ISY and the plugin does not respond to Insteon devices. I see the message "No data for 120 seconds, network problem?." in the log during these times (and other times) usually it last only 30 secs or so and then I see the "ISY Heartbeat message" again. Sometimes the "no data for 120 seconds" lasts longer - up to a few minutes.

    What are typical causes of this and any advice on trouble shooting would be greatly appreciated.

    I'm running HS3 Standard Edition 3.0.0.280 (Windows) on Win7 machine

    The ISY sends out what is essentially a heartbeat message every minute (I believe that's the period). The plug-in keeps track of these messages and if it doesn't see one for 2 minutes reports that error.

    I don't think there's a typical cause for this as it's not typical for this to happen.

    It could truly be a network problem and packets are getting dropped for some reason (wiring, router, etc).

    It could be an issue with the ISY and it's too overloaded and can't send or is delayed in sending the messages. You should be able to check this by looking at the ISY logs.

    It could be something on the windows machine that's having problems and the network stack is dropping packets.

    I'd start by rebooting everything and see if that clears it up. If not, I'd start swapping cables and network ports. As a last resort I'd probably install a network sniffer on the windows machine and verify if the packets are making it to the machine or not.

    Sorry I'm not much help, this isn't something I've had to troubleshoot.

      It turned out to be an issue with Windows Firewall.

      All running great now.
