    Device states out of sync

    Mark,

Having an issue where sometimes device states get out of sync. I'm running 3.0.6.14 and the error log is below.

In the scenario below, I just cycled a outletlinc and left it in the OFF position, but it still shows ON in HS 3.

If I'm reading the log correctly, it looks like the OFF command, cmd 13, was received, but it doesn't look like the PI processed it. Is that right?

I do have other issues, but want to see if there might be some underlying issue in my configuration that could be the problem. If commands are being missed, then it could explain my other problems.

    Richard,
the issue is the plugin never actually received the "expected" Off msg. It would look like the following based on the log snippet you posted above.

    May-07 8:44:04 PM Insteon Received STX 0x50 (Raw Insteon Rec):3D DF DA 00 00 01 C3 13 00
The plugin does not process the other message that looks similar. If it did then associated events would fire twice.

      Mark,

Thanks for the quick response. Just wondering what could be causing this issue. It is pretty consistent with a outletlinc and kpl that I have in a test lab. All devices are on the same non filtering power strip. This is happening with either a USB plm or a hub as the controller. I did multiple hw resets of the plm and devices but still get the out of sync.

I'm evaluating returning to your plugin from an ISY. Using the ISY I don't have this issue, but it is using a serial PLM. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot to narrow down the cause of a the problem. I have a diagnostic kpl and that's showing no problems.

      Thanks again

      Richard

what does the log look like when you just press an Off on either the outletlinc or KPL

HS3 shows ON, but device is actually OFF.

To help troubleshoot on my end, I installed Eltima Serial Port Monitor, and was able to capture the communications between the PLM and your PI. There are no missing commands from the PLM to HS3. Everything the PLM spit out was accounted for in the HS3 logs.

            Regards

            Richard

do you think this device specific? I don't know why the devices aren't sending the standard Off msgs

I really have no idea. These are just two out of 6 total new devices I had still in boxes that I decided to put into a test lab to look at your PI again (KPL Dimmer, Switchlinc Relay, Switchlinc Dimmer, Outletlinc Dimmer, A19 bulb and leak sensor).

The real thing I was trying to test was how your PI was handling grouping buttons together on a KPL (i.e. a 7 button KPL where A&B as a single button) and the differences between Hub and a PLM. The 7 button KPL is the reason I'm still using an ISY. In the midst of that testing, I started seeing these device sync issues.

I did find that I cannot use the KPLGroupLinks=False otherwise I experience the same issue in this post https://forums.homeseer.com/showthread.php?p=1194027. Also I see other issues with a&b and c&d button grouping that I'll report on when I can rule out the issue isn't with my lab. I don't want you to chase unicorns.

Again, I thank you for your quick reply.
