    Powered speaker control

I just put some powered PC speakers in the master bedroom and I am trying to control them with a X10 appliance module.
I have the same set up in the Living room with no problems. I can turn them on and off with X10.
But, in the bedroom I turn the appliance module off and it turns right back on.
I have tried different modules (3 of them), same out come. I have tried a X10 filter with out success.
Now I am thinking of using a Z-wave appliance module.
Which one would work for this?
    The Z-wave interface I have is - Aeon labs Z-stick S2, DSA 02203-zwus.

    Thanks,
    Tim

Looks like the current sense is activating on your X10 appliance module. Thinking the older ones had this built in.

The 3 prong AM466 Appliance module has no current sense

Note: Due to the changes in circuitry and to accommodate for newer lighting technologies, the older local sense feature is disabled.

The 2 prong AM486 Appliance module has current sense.

Note: LOCAL CONTROL; The Appliance Module can "Sense" if any load is plugged into it. When the load on/off switch is toggled to the On position, the Module responds by turning ON the load connected to it.

Not totally sure but I do not think any Z-Wave appliance module has current sense modes so that should work for you.

Well I found a 3 prong module in my X10 box, model # AM466, and it does the same thing.
Guess i will get a zwave module and try that.

      Thanks,

Did some more searching and plugged an extension cord into the appliance module, then the speakers and a night light into the other end.
        Now it works.

        Thanks,

          Good news Tim!!

What audio hardware did you end up purchasing and how do you have your audio output configured?

I got a Radio Shack 1-In/4-Out A/V Distribution Amplifier. 1 male 3.5mm to RCA jack cord, 2 female 3.5mm to RCA jack cord and 3 18 foot 3.5mm extensions with male on one end and female on the other.
Plugged the A/V Distribution Amplifier straight into the back of the HS3 PC where the speakers plug in.
Then stuck a X10 appliance module on the living room speakers and the bed room speakers.
