I think one of the documented "gotchas" if the change in the directory structure of where HSPro is installed versus HS Standard. I kept mine the same in the last 10 years or so.

Looking at my installation live its still "C:\Program Files\HomeSeer 2". This is most likely why I didn't bother to test 64Bit version of W7. It would be more work to make the changes than actually do the rest of the "stuff" associated with updating HS.

My way was very time consuming and slow. I took standard to the highest rev the from there went to pro. Here is a quick list of the revisions / betas.
It had been sitting at your same version since the update from HS version 1.7.XX
For the new build on W7, installed it off the updater, then plugin by plugin, then the final pieces were "importing my setups" - still a bit time consuming.

      Failed upgrade

Pete that was quite an endeavour!

I have managed to update my HS2 install to the latest version. There are a few minor issues so far but nothing too serious. Adding the Installdir registry key did allow the update to take place. I will do the upgrade to HSPro on another day.

      Thanks for your thoughts.

          Failed upgrade -> Success

Well it did indeed work out. I have been running HSPro for nearly 30 days and registered it over the weekend.

Once I had overcome the problem with the Installdir registry key things were a lot smoother.

The only other problem was with callbacks. It appears that something has changed between versions that causes a catastrophic failure of the comport call backs. It seems a few other people have experience the same/similar problem eg http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=135898. However, this is an hs version change issue rather than HSPro specific

Lost 64 zone names and numerous events

I followed Rupp's method 1 except that I didn't do the back up. As a result of the upgrade I lost 64 zone names of my DSC security zones. Since I use many of those as event triggers, now numerous events do not work either.

Is there any way to recover from this mess?

              Thanks,

              Z

                Uneventful Upgrade

Like others, I was more than a little anxious about going from HS 2 to HS Pro. I did follow the instructions on the "How to" section of this forum -- very similar to what Rupp posted. The upgrade was without any major issue. I was very pleased. Also added HSTouch server for iPod and iPhone, and Android (we have all three in the family) and that worked without a hitch also. The only issue I have experienced is a MS Visual Basic script that throws an exception every now and then. I am still working that, and if it is something I cannot resolve I will come back for assistance. Well done HomeSeer!

So I got thinking about upgrading to HS2PRO from HS2 Standard - yes, I know it's kinda late in the game. However, I did purchase the HS3PRO license and along with it came the HS2PRO upgrade. It will likely be a while before I upgrade ~ likely the fall at best. The issue I need some clarity on is that do I just run the HS2PRO updater to go from HS2 2.5.0.81 to HS2PRO 2.5.0.81?

Yes, that should work. The one thing to be aware of is HSPro will want to be installed to a different directory structure and you will want to change this during the install.

Ok...finally did the upgrade to PRO (mind you 4 years late). Went without a hitch. However, my original 5 user HStouch license still prevails.
I thought HS2PRO provided Unlimited connections.

Mind you my HSTouch is old (1.0.0.45).. but shouldn't I have unlimited connections?

Do you see the DLL in your setup?

                          HSPI_HSTOUCH_UNLIMITED.dll
                          and is it enabled?

If you do try restarting Homeseer.

No just HSPI_HSTOUCH.dll. I wonder if it's because I already had a 5 user license and the upgrade didn't change it...

In order to get the unlimited license, you need to download the HSTouch Unlimited License from the updater and once installed enable it in the setup interfaces page. The unlimited licesne is included with HomeSeer Pro, just requires the download. Good luck.

                                Hi all

I've completed a (very late!) upgrade to HS Pro today from HS2 because I was having problems with my TouchServer and licences which I won't bore you with.

I followed Rupp's instructions, and I can see all my devices and events in HS Pro, but nothing actually works! ie, if I try to switch off a light from HS Pro, I can see the current status, and I can see the light listed as a device, but clicking the on/off button (or the percentage for the dimmer) does nothing.

I've copied over the files Rupp suggests. Anything else I can do?
