waterproof touch screen for outside placement

    Hi there,
Internally in our hall I use the eeeTop with great WAF result.
but would like an external but smaller display on our terrase.
can anybody recomend a touch screen that will work with HS Touch for outside placement?
    Best,

Why not just use a standered touch pad and mount it in a weatherproof housing with a flipdown front cover.

I've looked into this a little bit, and the best options I've found are actually using either a device designed for it (expensive), or an otterbox

        http://www.otterbox.com/

I think all of the devices I saw that were designed for outdoor use were pretty darn expensive, but one thing you do gain usually is a sunlight readable display.

I've really thought about using a PPC in a otterbox for my hot tub, but ended up just shoving a x10 palm pad in a home made water tight bag...

I suppose we could get very basic here and just wrap it up in Clingfilm or a poly bag - No?

My wife will not accept wraps and covers. I need suggestions on small waterproof screens that looks good and can be wall mounted.

              ?

These things arn't cheap... There are more, just google all weather touchscreen, or water proof touchscreen, or sunlight readable touchscreen

And that will put you on the right path.

I wouldn't think any touchscreen would last very long outdoors unless it made for it. Even putting one in a rainproof enclosure wouldn't work because it would still be subjected to temps and humidity which might be outside the designed operating parameters.

You could look at the Getac 840XT 8.4" Tablet PC but very pricey - Fully MIL-STD-810F Compliant and IP54 Rated

The stuff on advantech should work if you are looking at the CE version just make sure it is 5.0 or better - the second link look like it it was running a older version of CE - you would have to check

                          Waterproof Touch Screen

                          Hi all,

we have developed a patented waterproof touch screen. This touch screen is basically a resistive touch with a thin micro glass laminated on top. One of the big benefits of this technology is the touchpanel gets 100% waterproof. You could even submerge it. That means you could build it in the bathtub or in the shower. The technology is preassure activated and works like a charm. If you are interested let me know. We have a special deal right now. If you build a unique solution we offer the touch screen for free. ( This is limited to 1 sample per project ). The only thing we request is a detailed project description + short video.

If you are interested please send me a email: kuehn@interelectronix.com
