Remotelinc 2 - unable to add device

Hello - I'm new to Insteon (but have been using Homeseer with X10 for many years). I just got a 2413U to replace my old CM11A and have it working with my legacy devices and a new Insteon Togglelinc switch properly. I can't seem to link a Remotelinc 2 controller, however. I've reset the interface and tried both manual add and tap add methods several times with no luck. Debug log messages always have a "did not respond" error. The remote is fully charged.

I'm using version 1.7.3.1 of the plug-in (trial license) and the Remotelinc is v1.2. Any ideas? Thanks!

you need to put the remotelinc2 into link mode before you can register with the plugin. please see the RL2 manual for starting link mode on this device.

note: all battery operated devices need to be in linking mode before they can be registered.

Thanks for the quick reply, Mark! Unfortunately I have been doing that, following the instructions on page 6 of the manual: http://www.smarthome.com/manuals/2444a2xx8.pdf. I've also tried the method on page 8 just to see if it would work. Is there anything else I should be doing?

just to be clear, to put the RL2 into linking mode do the following:

Press & Hold Set Button for 3 seconds - until you hear a beep

then use the manual add to register the RL2 with the plugin.

if you can't manually link the RL2 to another insteon device such as your togglelinc, i would suggest calling SH for help.

the other thing to check is how far away are you from a dual-band device such as the PLM or an access point.

Thanks - it definitely seems like either the remote or the PLM might be flaky. I have some other modules coming later in the week, I'll experiment with them to try to narrow down the problem. Thanks again for your help.
