    SmartHome 2842-222 cannot register

I just received two of the new 2842-222 (replacement for the 2420M) from SmartHome.

According to SH, these are the next gen of the 2420M and should work the same way. However, I'm unable to register with HomeSeer.

Whether attempting Tap-Add-Link or manually registering the devices I get the same response. I just put the device into Linking mode and did a manual address entry register. The detailed logs are pasted below:

Any suggestions on how to add these new devices?

    Lee,

Make sure J5 is On. this is required for sw configuration.

if this doesn't work please you try a factory reset on the device and the try to register it again: put it into linking mode and then use the manual add feature is the best approach.

J5 is ON. I have tried both manual and tap-link-add modes and it HS continues to give same response.

I was easily able to create a manual link between the motion sensor and a SwitchLinc dimmer module on the same circuit as the USB interface, so I know RF communications is working.

I already have 3 other motion sensor modules and a total of 46 Insteon registered devices. Everything is working well - except these two Motion sensors. I have also tried to add both of them with the same results.

I believe there must be something different about the newest model that is preventing the plugin from seeing it. Is there some logging I could provide you?

can you try a tap-add with detailed logging and then post the log snippet

In the meanwhile, i'll contact SH about this new version

so after you started tap-add, you then put the MS into linking mode..and nothing. i don't see anything in the log above related to 21.D3.EE which is obviously the problem.

how about this...manually put the plm into linking mode, then put the ms into linking mode. this should at least link the two.

then put the ms into linking mode again and see if you can manually add the MS via the plugin

btw, what plugin ver are you running

how about this...manually put the plm into linking mode, then put the ms into linking mode. this should at least link the two.

then put the ms into linking mode again and see if you can manually add the MS via the plugin

btw, what plugin ver are you running
              WELL HURRAY!

I was using 1.7.3.1 with the same behaviors. I've since been using the latest Beta 1.8.0.8.

Manually linking to the PLM first as above, followed by the Manual add (with the MS in link mode) seems to have worked! I was able to get them registered as new devices.

Is this the standard mode with Motion Sensors? OR something unique to these new ones? (Maybe related to i2cs ?)
