I've been playing with building a home automation system. I would like to include some wireless door sensors based off of Reed switches, and some motion detectors.
I have three options to do that keeping a low cost.
1) Ebay RF receivers/transmitters. I've written a couple scrips that can make these output any code I want in python. But, can HomeSeer use them? I think all I would need is for my devices to be seen as devices. I can handle the rest I think.

2) Same transmitters/receivers but on an Arduino.
3) x10 stuff.
Bonus Question:
Can a Zwave Thermostat be "paired" (do you even pair zwave stuff, I haven't looked into it yet) with more than one device?
