I also picked up 2 and flashed one successfully using the instructions posted. Initial impressions - good picture quality and lots of configuration options. Not at all a bad deal for $25 bucks.

Completely agree with MTerry. Just flashed both. Easy to do, and for $25, I dont know if you could find a better IP cam. Plan on stopping back and getting more.

Whata Deal -

I can confirm they work with the HomeSeer NetCam plugin. Also look at the option for DDNS - although there is nothing input into the fields, it is enabled with checkbox.

Updated FW on IPCams that I purchased. Easy. Here are the instructions. If you have never done anything like this or do not feel comfortable doing the firmware upgrade please don't attempt it; you can brick your camera.

Download the software used to flash the firmware at:

http://www.everbesthk.com/8-download...ade_207_XP.zip

Download the firmware to flash the IP camera at:

http://www.northq.com/download/9006/FW-NQ-9006.1009.zip

Install the software. Use compatibility mode if you are using W7. The application will not run in 64 Bit mode.

1 - Connect the included cable to the IPCam
2 - Install the camera on the same network switch as the upgrading machine.
3 - then insert a paperclip into the reset hole on the side of the unit.
4 - While holding down the reset button, plug in the power adapter.
5 - This will put the device into a firmware upgrade mode.
6 - The power light should flash while the network light should stay solid

Firmware upgrade
1 - You have the run the updater as THE administrator, not just as an administrator in MS Windows 7
2 - Open the Upgrade Utility app you installed earlier,
3 - select your current network adapter, the click browse targets.
4 - If the application finds the device,
5 - click on the Files button then
6 - navigate to where you saved the firmware file.
7 - Once you're ready, click on upgrade.
8 - It should wipe the EEPROM, write the new firmware, then
9 - verify that the image has been written successfully.

The process should take about 5 minutes or so. When it's finished, the device will reboot and once the power and network lights are solid, you should be good to go.

It will pull an IP from your DHCP server. The login is "Administrator" with no password (Blank).

This is the default screen of the IP Camera once you've updated the firmware.

Users of MS IE will need to download an activex component to use the camera.

From the Very last page of the northq Installation Guide.

Streaming Video/Audio through Internet Camera
To snapshot a JPEG image from the Internet Camera with specified resolution and quality:

http://IP Address/img/snapshot.cgi?[size=value][&quality=value]

Size = 1(160*128)
2(320*240)
3(640*480)
Quality = 1(Very low)
2(Low) 3(Normal)
4(High)
5(Very high)

To stream M-JPEG video from the Internet Camera (M-JPEG mode only)

http://IP Address/img/mjpeg.cgi or http://IP Address/img/main_mjpeg.htm

To stream video through the RTP/RTSP protocol from Internet Camera (MPEG-4 mode only)

rtsp://IP Address/img/media.sav

Note: Users need to specify the desired protocol in the players. To snapshot a JPEG image (160*128, very low quality) through a mobile phone:

http://IP Address/img/mobile.cgi

Slow day at work today, so I have been logging on to the home network and testing. I have the streaming working in WebcamXP7, Vitamin D, and Blue Iris. But, not direct into a webpage. Will try HS Touch when I get home. Dont have access to the designer from here.

Moskus,

Yesterday when I called the local Radio Shack store; the manager told me he had two left. I asked if he would hold them for me for 15 minutes and he said it was first come first serve. This is actually the first time I've heard this response. Historically the local stores have not had any issues holding them for me. They are going fast though. There's about 5 stores nearby. I can look for you if you want. RS took the cameras off their websites when they announced the closeout sale.

RaptorSSS,

I have the ZM streams set up with my HSTouch screens. The main security screen is all of the cameras with one large view of one cam in the middle. If I touch any of the cams its goes to another screen full view streaming. Only issue is that streaming "stutters" a bit; where as you see the seconds jump sometimes. I also left a streaming video on one screen by accident such that it ran for over 6 hours; it did lock up my HS box doing this. I haven't tried it again recently though. It may work better now. (test was last year sometime).

For ZM I mostly utilize the mobil view on my phone. Its a very simple interface. Even the collage of 11 cameras work but it's very tiny on the screen. With HSTouch you can resize the video to what works the best.

Stopped in the local store and they had them for $59 (1 wired) and $79 (5 or 6 wireless) on "clearance". There was a line so I didn't stop to haggle. I'm in central Indiana. Is the $25 a regional deal? I'd like something to take to the store to show the manager. Suggestions?

Barry
